I've been wanting to do a video comparison of my guitars for a while but haven't had time until today. I'm not a professional reviewer, filmmaker, or guitar player, so please try to look past my sloppiness of my first comparison video. The gain on my mic was a bit too high, so hopefully my breathing doesn't distract you too much. Anyways, I hope this is a useful comparison of tones for you. You can get a better sense for the unique tone of each guitar if you use headphones.

Hello all...this is my first post, I just signed up.

I have two Eastman GA guitars, an AC122CE (sitka, sapele) and an AC222CE (sitka, ovangkol).

I'd like to get an E series dread but is there enough to be gained from an E series dread compared to the great 122 and 222 grand auditoriums I already have? Is an Adirondack top really worth the extra cash? I'm probably most interested in the E6 vs E10 comparison after reading the recent "jphenderson91" post for the E10TC vs E20TC. And I agree with the post that I should probably still consider the E8 sitka/rosewood against the E6 sitka/hog and E10 addy/hog. I probably have paralysis by analysis. Also, I don't have a local source for these guitars so I don't have the luxury of doing a side by side comparison.

My purpose is to obtain a multi-purpose dread that I can use for rock, country, blues and maybe eventually bluegrass. And I don't care about bling, I care about tone quality and application to different music styles.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I think this might not be new news, but Larrivee and Tommy Emmanuel partnered up to release a signature series guitar. Here is  the link https://www.larrivee.com/products/c-03r-te . What I found interesting is the that it is a 12 fret neck with cutaway and 25.4" scale. I think it is a Grand Auditorium body but a little deeper - 16" lower bout with a 4.5" depth. I have tried several different Larrivees and they are quite nice, just nothing ever really begged me to take it home. The MSRP of $2898 seems a bit stiff.

I like to monitor and regulate my RH%, particularly in my music room.  I have humidifiers and a de-humidifier to keep me within an ideal range, but I also keep a couple of hygrometers around to monitor the numbers.  Last month, while traveling, my music room hygrometer disappeared (I later discovered that my 14yo daughter "borrowed" it), so I ordered a SensorPush Wireless Hygrometer for Christmas.

It works like any standard hygrometer, except that it automatically tracks readings every minute, which gets transmitted onto a smartphone app.  As a result, I can see how my RH% changes with the temperature, how it changes during the night (while I'm asleep) or during the day (while I'm at work).  It will even send me an alert if my temp or RH fall outside of a high/low range that I created, which is super helpful if I forget to empty/fill my dehumidifier/humidifiers.

It's the perfect gift for an information geek like me!

The battery lasts 1-2 years and is easily replaceable.  Amazon carries another brand for less than half the price, but this one looked good and had favorable reviews, so I splurged.

There are more photos in the link, but here's mine from this morning.  Things are very stable right now, although I did take the temp down last night, so I can see how the RH reacted to that change.  I think I'm going to learn a LOT with this device, especially in my summer, when temps swing 40 degrees, outside RH changes 40% daily, and I run my house fan to cool things off.

Found this vid of Jimi playing acoustic guitar (one of only two extant recordings). The second of the tunes is I guess of most interest to historians of rock.

By all accounts he was a tremendous acoustic guitarist - oh to have one CD of him playing unplugged! What strikes me is his feel for the blues. At the time in the late 1960s, It never struck me how he was in the process of expanding the electric blues sound. Listening now to his music I realize that he was always primarily a bluesman.

Spotted a new-style pick which wraps around the finger to anchor it. I bought three to try out. Takes some getting used to but could be especially useful for those who've suffered loss of digital dexterity/grip due to strokes or spinal injuries and similar.
