I took the sb59 and did the alnico II magnet swap to the bridge. Installed Gibson t95r in the neck . Happy so far definitely the bridge is a improvement , neck is what I thought it would be clear and clean weather using overdrive or not. It's not as bright as a neck SD phat cat . Happily the two pickups work well together.
The guitar is handmade that's for sure . The top is very unequal and they had to cut the trim rings to fit .

For her first guitar, my student wants a "new" guitar, an OM size, max budget is $300. We were ready to order an Eastman PCH1-OM in the reddish "Classic Finish", which she really likes. But various websites show the Classic Finish to be light red, some dark dark red, others light brown, then also very dark brown. Might Eastman have sent out some, and then made a big change, as they often do? Or, maybe it's just different cameras, different lighting, poor photography etc.? Thanks for any opinions....

Someone at the AGF posted asking if Eastman made an OM that's 25.5" scale, with maple back and sides.

I don't care about the maple, but the other question, + 1 of mine for good measure, got me shaking my head - again.

Considering the fact that an OM is afterall *technically* 25.5" scale, why DOESN'T Eastman? And for criminy's sake, why not make an OM with a true 1 1/2" string spacing? It's becoming the industry standard.

What do you like for your current OM model?  1 3/4" with even (full) C profile.  I like the G7 ART concept. Never tried one. A lot of parts and a little pricey?

Has anyone here own or ever played a Yamaha Silent Guitar - one of those spindly, barely there collapsible guitars with the built in electronics that sounds like an acoustic steel string or classical guitar? Ya know - like this... (nylon string pictured)

I ask because I have a very early steel string model. Came equipped with bronze strings, but I installed a set of electric strings - .010's.... The UST pickup sounds about like what you would think, but it has another sound - a digital sample of an acoustic. You can mix them together. The result is quite useable live or for recording - no need for mics, and no feedback. Very controllable and easy to process. It's kind of an anti-Eastman, but it has a place in the guitar world.

I did a setup on mine and got it to play like a Les Paul, but it's light as can be and fun to work with. Has built-in effects, and even a circuit for the input of a practice recording (comes through the headphones if it's late or in a hotel). I was thinking of adding a Bill Lawrence pickup at the neck (like for an acoustic flattop or archtop), and mixing it in for a 3rd sound.

I currently have a Recording King RO-327 (basically an E40om with forward shifted bracing) that I do enjoy. It is quite loud, but the tone is very dry in comparison to my Eastmans. As far as I can tell, the RO-327 is a very rare model, which makes it pretty cool in my book. But, I also have an E8D that is incredibly rich and resonant. I can't help but wonder if a E40om is as resonant as its dreadnought brother. My beautiful AC922 is not as resonant as the E8D, but my AH6OME does have a very similar resonance to my E10D. All of this could be due to the ages of my guitars.

I hate to say it, but I'm considering selling the 327 and the 922 and buying an E40om-sunburst. I just know that it'll be close to impossible to buy these two models again if I ever decide I made a mistake.

Who makes the cases for eastman acoustic guitars?

New guy here, don't own an Eastman yet, but I'm researching options, mostly interested in the AR403, AR 503, and T146. I have problems with pain in my right shoulder when I play too large, too deep-bodied instruments for longer periods of time, so I'm really interested in something slim.

While looking at new and used Eastmans online, I found that the AR403 has two different body thicknesses listed:
A lot of sites have the depth listed as 2-9/16" (same as the AR503); and on a lot of other sites, the depth is listed as 3-9/32" - quite a significant difference! The latter is mostly mentioned for the AR403CED twin-pickup version, which, apparently, is the only 403 version currently in production...

So, has anybody here recently bought or tested a new AR403 (CED or not)? Is it as thin as an AR503, or as thick as an ES-175 (or the Eastman AR371)?

Aside from the usual stockpile of strings, I'm getting a new Hercules three guitar stand (Amazon, Sweetwater $49), so I can use my single stand for my T185MX (which has been in its case lately).  And a new Blue Yeti mic (Amazon $89) and a desktop stand, since my kids have taken ownership of my original Yeti.

Any other deals out there for Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday?
