Hi Folks, I'm new here.  Been ogling Eastman guitars for a while and am really thinking about getting one of their thinlines. I was hoping folks here that have played more of their models could chime in with opinions. I live in Portland, OR, and I think Portland Music Company carries some Eastmans.  I need to get out, see what they have, and play a few in person. 

Right now I am eying either the 185/185MX or the T59. I play mostly acoustic guitar, fingerpicking in various alternate tunings, as well as clawhammer banjo.  I like playing blues, roots, some jazz, and rocking out a bit, and have a Baja Tele and a few nice amps. I was in a rock band for a bit but not anymore, so mostly just playing electric around the house. I could see this guitar being used for fingerpicking bluesy stuff, some slide, and playing with a pick too.  I wouldn't getting back into a band at some point.

I like my Baja tele fine, but I am not much into the Tele twang, and am always on the neck pickup or the middle position usually. Plus this particular tele is super heavy, and poly finish is not that appealing. I know 335 style guitar are supposed to produce warmer woodier sounds, and I have liked the few 335's I played in the stores.  Though the different form factor would take some getting used to. 

So that is where I am coming from. I know the 18X series has a mahogany neck, and is almost totally hollow. The t59 has the center block, which means more sustain? Folks also say it is brighter due to the maple neck.  Through an amp do these two guitars sound significantly different? 

I know the best thing is to get out and play them, so I am hoping I can find some locally.  If not a drive to Seattle may be in order.

If you have wondered, like I did, how thick are Eastman guitar cases. The answer is 5 plys.

Hi, all!
I’ve decided to upgrade to Gotoh 510 tuners for my E10SS.
I plan to go with the 1:21 ratio, but there are two different models: the SGL510Z and the SGV510Z. I realize the difference is mainly the positioning of the screw holes (please let me know of any other difference!), w/ the SGL having them at 8 and 4 o’clock, and the SGV having them at 6 o’clock...but which one is most appropriate to the E10SS? Does it even make a difference??

Hi folks former lurker here.
I've had Eastman archtops for some time, but as I've been increasingly impressed by the presentation and tone of Eastman flat-tops at my Acoustic Music club, I have made the plunge and just received a new E20p.

I also play Collings and Santa Cruz but being old and retired I'm no longer in that pay grade.

My first impression was the quality of the case - very good and similr to TKL quality.
The guitar arrived from the London dealer properly packed and even in tune!

The only thing that concerns me a bit is the way that the string spacing has been arranged.
The top e, b and the bass E are swerved from the pin hole to the notches in the saddle
Although I've taken a pic of this I can't find a way of inserting it as I don;t use a photo hosting site.

This is a 12 fret with a 1 & 13/16" nut width, and an unspecified string spacing.

My question is - is this the way they always do this or is is a manufacturing fault- putting the wrong bridge on it or something?



I'd appreciate any input.

I haven't finished these yet , wait on a foil waterslide decal for the telly and the jazz master needs about 5 more coats of lacquer. Had to put them together and play lol.
The telly is a all soild rosewood body and had same for the neck . The neck was 7.25 with really small frets . It now has a warmoth boat neck all rosewood in 24.75. wow wow wow ! The sound is much improved . I was thinking is this neck worth the money ? YES YES YES !!! THE JM is new 2019 and I just didn't like the reach lol , also I wanted to try really big frets . It's also warmoth 24.75 with the largest frets they offer . I really like the frets and the feel . Sound doesn't seem any different really , it was sweet before and still is . The Fender JM neck was half the price of the RW so I would say worth it still .

I am in the market for a rosewood OM and after checking the specs on these 2 Eastman's, the only difference I see is a Sitka or Adi top. Are there any other differences that I'm missing? Thanks!

Reluctantly selling my E10OM-Ltd as I just got a great deal on a Furch Vintage 2 OM-SR that I have wanted for a while. Can't justify having two OM's (to my wife) so unfortunately this great E10OM-Ltd has to find a new home. Purchased new in April 2019 and is in absolute mint condition.
