I just finished a warmoth assembly and cracked the headstock . The machine head screws called for 3/32 bit and I waxed . There was a shoulder on the screw and it cracked the headstock . It was my fault so fixed it and just wanted to pass the learning experience on .

I was curious what people thought of this neck set on a new eastman

I just received an Eastman E10D-TC and while I wait for the box to acclimate to open I’m wondering if any others had switched to medium gauge strings? I prefer the volume and tension of mediums. I even switched my Martin custom OM28 over to mediums. Is this ok to do with the Eastman? Has anyone had issues with this?

I wonder what Eastman could produce along these lines - a semi acoustic archtop with a 28" scale?

Just received my warmoth mahogany body hybrid telestrat and neck . The body is soild and so light , the neck feels so good . I don't have time tonight to assemble and wire but tomorrow ?. It's already got me thinking of another telly build , Joe bonamassa nocaster is next I think .

Ever sell something and regret it ever since?

Years ago, I decided to try to learn to play guitar. I picked up a cheap laminated guitar from the store and took up lessons, which didn't last long.

I was impetuous and grew frustrated with the learning aspect, but that didn't stop me from buying more guitars. I became a "collector" more than any kind of player. I ended up owning a Martin D15 M (spent way too much on that), and a Gibson electric. One day I was browsing Craigslist and saw an ad for an Eastman AC510 OM. It was stunning, and it was also very reasonably priced. I took the offer.

Ultimately I realized that I had thousands in guitars and wasn't doing anything with them. I couldn't justify keeping them, so I sold them all off. I don't regret selling the Martin or the Gibson, but I've always regretted selling the Eastman.

Now, years on, I've grown up a little more. Married, house, career, all that. I've decided to give it another honest go, this time without the focus on gear. I wanted something modest, but something I could grow with. Of course, I looked to Eastman again, and found an excellent deal on an E1OM, which I currently have on order.

I'm super excited to give this another shot. But I still regret selling the 510 - that thing was just gorgeous to my eyes and ears. I hope it's been taken care of and that the buyer got a lot out of it.

What are your thoughts on if (or when) Eastman might offer either a baritone or bass guitar (acoustic or electric in either case)?  I would think a bass guitar would be a natural given their experience making upright (double) basses. A baritone would be a nice addition.

This is my first post in a forum. My name is Michel (I‘m male), so „Mitch“ is fine with me :-).

I am 44 and from Switzerland. I do wish to apologize for my english. Not that easy to talk about specific stuff in a foreign language.

I have only started to play guitar 2 years ago. Between work, family life with two small kids and playing soccer in the local 40+ Team, there isn‘t much time to practice, so my level is basically open chords, a bit of picking. But mainly easy strumming, open chords. Nonetheless I love taking my Guitar out and play, even if it is just for a couple of minutes. Just something magic about it.

My current guitars are:
Faith Saturn HiGloss (bought new two years ago, 2014 model - Dreadnought - Engleman/RW for folks who don‘t know the brand)
Martin 000-15m (from 1999 - bought last year from a good friend for half nothing)

So i started on the dread. I am fortunate to have a good friend who owns quite a lot of high end acoustics, that I get to try out. Boucher, Martins, Santa Cruz and a Patrick J. Eggle. He gave me the Martin 000-15 cause I liked it and he didn‘t play it anymore.
So after trying these Guitars and going to shops to play other ones, I came to the following conclusion:

I love the OM/000 size. It is plenty good for me as a bedroom player. Even strumming open chords, I actually prefer the intimate, more focussed and compressed sound. Not sure those words are the appropriate words to describe the sound but I think you get the point. So basically I don‘t miss the volume and fullness of a dread.
And I like to add singing at some stage.

I love to play with bare fingers, also strumming. Play with a pick occasionally, also for learning purposes. But my attack is at most a medium one. With or without pick. At the moment...

To give you a quick idea what music I like to hear and try to play: I like David Gray a lot, especially his album White Ladder. He has a few “tutorials” on youtube on how to play his songs from White ladder and I am trying to play those

Also I love the way John Paul White plays. I love the tone David and John Paul get out of their Guitars. You noticed, both these artists play a Martin 000-18

Now the all hog Martin is nice, it has a sound on its own, sometimes when played with bare fingers, well just gently played it can be great. I don‘t like it that much when played a bit louder and stronger, surely it is my poor playing. I say this cause compared to my mates Eggle OM, it is missing something a spruce top has. Don‘t get me wrong, it is great...but as a second guitar, maybe not as the only acoustic.

So I come to the point, sorry I wrote too much above, surprised myself actually....

I am looking for an OM/000, spruce top, 1 3/4 nut, I prefer ebony fingerboard. AND it will be my only guitar, i will most likely need to sell my other two acoustics to fund a new one. Also I like/prefer the idea if one guitar (don‘t laugh), at my level and life circumstances the next years, It doesn‘t make sense. I rather have one I love and play everything on it then having a few and they don‘t get played. Also money is tight.

So I am looking at EASTMAN, read all there is in this forum (great Forum btw) there is a local shop with a little selection of it. Unfortunately just the lower range. There was a E1OM, some AC models and a E10OOsv. I really liked the neck and playability of the E1OM. The neck seems a bit chunkier than the Martin 000-15m, which I like a lot. I am tall and have long enough fingers, so I can handle a wider nut and chunkier neck.

Questions:

The way I play at tho moment, which OM from the Traditional series would suit me best?

What would an Adi top give me that I won‘t get out of the Sitka ones? (Bedroom playing for myself without digging in too much, volume no issue)

What would a thermo cured top add I could benefit from? Would it make the Adi toped ones more interesting for my style?

What back and sites would you suggest? Which would be more versatile going fwd?

Now, after reading all the discussions on this forum (sorry to bring up similar or same topics again), listening to countless videos and my experience with my mates guitars and the ones in the shops, I tend to mahogany back and sites with a Sitka top. The E6OM. Funny it is advertised as THE fingerstyle guitar. From the videos I have seen, it sounds great strummed with the appropriate attack. Am I wrong?

Also, there is the E6OM-TC coming out later this year, how would that compare to the standard one? Would it lean towards the sound I love, i.e. in David Grays video, posted above? David and John Pauls 000-18 are both vintage ones.

Lots of people recommend a RW back and site on smaller guitars, to give it more bass, sounding fuller and maybe more interesting with the more complex tone. Also for strumming. Would you say owning just one Guitar that size, it would be „better“ or more versatile going fwd, having one with RW b&s?

The E8OM doesn‘t seem to be around much? Not many reviews or videos? There is some by Jeff Monkman which sound great. A bit dark but quite nice. Wonder if playing with bare fingers makes it too dark sounding...? Especially myself with my limited playing? Would I miss the sweetness I love in David Grays and John Paul Whites playing? Or would it bring advantages to my style? Would a good player make either guitar sound nice and sweet, or bass heavy and interesting...?

A reputable dealer in europe (TFOA in the Netherlands) carries a E8OM, E20OM-TC and non TC. There are three E10OM-tc ordered. And a E6OM-TC to be ordered later this year. I did contact them, asked for advice. Told them the same I did here. Their advice: E10OM.

Tbh the E40OM and the E20OM-TC are out of my price range. The later being cheaper with EUR 1‘950.-
The E10OM-TC will be EUR 1‘690.-
The E20OM EUR 1‘650.-
They are absolutely the limit. Depending what I could get from the sale of my 2 acoustics.
The E8OM is EUR 1‘290.-
The E6OM would be EUR 1‘050.- the TC which is coming in later in the year will probably be around the price of the E8OM. Note, as a non European Union country we get 21% VAT taken from sale price. But there will be 7% VAT added in Switzerland plus customs. So in the end maybe 10% off altogether.

I asked the sales guy to get the E8OM and play it and tell me what he thinks. He said it is superb, really good dynamic approach and strong balanced sound.
The looks sure are good, herringbone trim. Love it. Prefer this looks to the E6OM. But at the end it is not just the looks that does it.

Considering everything, I have a strong feeling I might Really like the thermo cured E6OM.

Open to trades - Larrivee OM or OOO, Taylor or Larrivee 12 string.

I bought this guitar a few years ago, but I just bought yet another guitar (on the forum) and I am adhering to a newly instituted marital rule that requires that 1 goes out for any other that comes in.

I have replaced the pickup with a hand wound Kent Armstrong PAF ($175 value) and I have changed out the tuners to a set of Grovers Rotomatics with Ebony knobs. I've also replaced the pickguard with a newer one from Eastman that has Schatten tone and volume wheels.

I found that the guitar was feeding back at louder volumes when plugged in so I had a pair of custom F-hole plugs made (Doug's Plugs) that help tremendously. Many people play these guitars as acoustic swing instruments and of course the best acoustic volumes are achieved without the plugs.

The case is a bit worn but all latches work and there is no structural damage

It has a unique archtop sound being a solid mahogany back and sides instrument as opposed to maple.

It's pretty. Right now the intonation and set-up are exactly to my liking but you may have other tastes. It does not look brand new when close but the blemishes show true character and will help portray you as a player of deep and interesting experience.

This guitar in very good condition except for a variety of small dings and scratches and also checking in the nitrocellulose finish. Please look closely at the photos in the Reverb ad.
