Eastman AC 108CE Ltd is headed my way. I’m excited to get a grand concert, full scale, slotted headstock guitar. Hopefully this will compliment my rosewood dread. Hurry up Monday and get here.

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and a relatively new Eastman owner. I bought a T64V with bigsby on the second hand market last year and I am truly smitten with the guitar. The only issue I have is tuning instability which I put down to string angle through the nut (especially on D & G strings) due to the wide headstock. This means having to retune after bends or light bigsby work which can become tiresome.

As far as I can tell, Eastman have now moved away from the wide headstock, presumably for this reason.
Has anyone noticed the same problem and if so, do you have any advice on how to overcome the issue?

The shows are mostly solo acoustic with the occasional electric and one person joining. For those of you how are not familiar with his work he started out with Jefferson Airplane, then Hot Tuna and a solo career spanning almost 60 years. He runs Fur Peace Ranch which is in Ohio and has live shows as well as a purported amazing school/camp. For what I have seen of the shows he plays slope shouldered Gibson (J50 and AJ) as well as a Flamang J35 style. 

Great guy. Good stories. Absolutely amazing blues heavy acoustic guitar.

I bought a really good Silver Creek 0M, Model T-170, at a great price.
Might anyone know about the woods, I know the back & sides are rosewood, I am asking if the rosewood is laminated or solid wood? Also, I think I read that the top is Engleman spruce, not sitka. Any help greatly appreciated.

Just ordered an Eastman E2D-CD
It will be my first all solid acoustic and first with a cedar top so looking forward to the combination
Current acoustic for messing about on and has been for years is a Taylor big baby which whilst has a great tone for the size does sound too bright for certain songs so I’m looking forward to the more balanced tones of cedar/ mahogany

The third session is playing now, and since I watched it on Monday night, I'm expecting a new session soon.  Unfortunately, only the current sessions are showing (at least to me, as a non-subscriber), so if you want to watch this one, hurry!

Each session is about 30 minutes long and features Neil solo on acoustic or piano.  Each film is recorded and edited by his wife, Daryl Hannah, from their home in Telluride, CO.  In the first two sessions, he performed a few songs from an outside fire pit while the snow was coming down.  He wasn't playing his iconic Martin guitars for those songs, instead playing a black Ibanez that he reportedly purchased there via Craigslist (imagine getting that call!).  The early shows also featured an older Gibson inside, plus a makeshift harmonica holder, which was made out of an art easel, mic stand, and a horseshoe!  Classic Neil.

Also, for these sessions, he's playing a lot of deep cuts and songs well beyond the greatest hits.  As a fan, it's been a real treat to experience these solo versions.  Enjoy!

New member here, but I've been reading the threads on this forum for months.  Everyone on here really helped me pull the trigger on my new E6OM.  I originally posted this first section on AGF three days ago.  Near the bottom is an updated post from tonight.

First initial reaction:

My NGD is finally here! Eastman E6OM. It arrived yesterday, but I gave it the standard 24 hours to acclimate. Here are my first impressions:

Aesthetically: This guitar is beautiful. It's way more gorgeous in person than these pictures show. I know I didn't take the best pics, but wow. The back of this guitar is unreal. It has that flamed look or figured look on the mahogany back and sides. I really like the abalone Eastman on the headstock. At least I think it's abalone. Fretboard and bridge are dark ebony, but not jet black which I'm not crazy about. Dark chocolate color. Bridge even has little change in color in one area of the bridge, which I like. Fit and finish is nearly flawless.

There is one minor flaw unfortunately. If holding the guitar in playing position, about 3 inches southeast of the pick guard is a noticeable imperfection where the tortoise binding and white trim meet. Looks like the white trim was painted too fat for about 2 inches and runs into the tortoise. Not that noticeable though. Not a huge deal, and I'll never see it while playing.

Playability: It was almost perfectly in tune right out of the box. The action is great already. I may do a minor adjustment on the truss rod soon, but not going to mess with it tonight. It's super easy to play. I mean it really is. Some others on this board wanted me to shed light on the 2 5/32" bridge spacing in relation to fingerstyle. It really is no issue. I'm sure having 2 1/4" spacing would be perfect, but there is nothing difficult about it.

Sound: This guitar has great resonance for such a small bodied guitar. The projection is great too. I was really wondering if this OM had enough headroom when I wanted to play heavier, and it has no issues whatsoever. Then again, I'm not a heavy handed player either. It's perfect for my style which is fingerstyle, arpeggios, light strumming, slap techniques, etc. Tone is really good, but not great yet. It's brand new, so it'll only get better. It's already really solid in the tone department. No issues there.

I'm not crazy about the strings that came on this thing, but they'll do until they wear out.

Overall, I think I'm going to really love this guitar. I will try and post some videos or recordings soon.

For anyone thinking about a OM guitar, don't hesitate to buy this Eastman. I am thoroughly impressed, and I bought this sight unseen. This is my first Eastman, and I am an Eastman fanboy already. Now I see why they have such a strong reputation on this forum.

I actually bought a Gibson J45 Studio rosewood back in March, but returned it to Sweetwater because I was not impressed. Maybe I just don't like rosewood as much, because the Walnut J45 studio I played at GC months back was an amazing guitar. But, I'm getting off track here. I bring that up because this Eastman blows that Gibson J45 Studio (Rosewood version) outta the water. That guitar cost me about $1800 before I returned it, and this Eastman was about $850. This Eastman is better than some of the more expensive Taylors and Martin's I played too. And I probably played 50 of those combined.

Thanks to everyone on this board for helping me arrive at my decision. I'm truly happy with this guitar.

Updated post after Day 3 of owning:

I'm already in love with this thing. I am blown away by the projection of this OM. The tone is very clear, and the sound is EVEN. That's what I love most about this guitar. It's so well balanced.

The action on this thing is PERFECT. This guitar truly fits me like a glove in all aspects. Suits my playing style wonderfully, and this guitar is just so comfortable to hold. It's just easy to play.

For anyone considering an Eastman, I would say don't hesitate at all. I played a 2 year old used Martin 000-18 about 2 months ago at guitar center. It was incredible, but was $2000 used. This Eastman is every bit as good as that Martin. Especially if you consider that the Martin is 3 times more brand new. That may sound blasphemous, but I truly think this Eastman is 99.9% as good. Perhaps this is recency bias. It's possible I'm just thinking this because this E6OM has exceeded my expectations, and it's been 2 months since I played the Martin. Maybe I forgot truly how good the Martin was. But, I can say this E6OM just has that "wow" factor like I felt with the Martin.

Happy new guitar owner here. Now time to start recording once my interface gets shipped. I bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Ready to get back into recording again.
