Picked up a used AC 412 last night. Nice guitar with some knocks and bangs from the prior owners gig life. 2011 vintage.

Couple of questions: are these guitars braces to handle medium? And has anyone had repairs done to nitro finish dings?

After a compulsive appearing survey of guitars and guitar shops in Raleigh & Durham, NC last week, I can repeat an opinion (to the choir) that the playability/comfort and tonal characteristics of Eastman guitars in general, are yes, unique, but I would add, are superior to many, equal to others, inferior to few. I visited 3 Guitar Centers, a Sam Ash, 4 or 5 other shops, and SoundPure (a major Eastman dealer). All the shops were overstocked with Taylors, Taylors, Taylors. Some very nice Martins, Huss & Dalton, Guilds, expensive Bedells, Gibsons. Did not find 1 Eastman except at SoundPure where I played an E40OM that was really nice, it had an expensive feel and tone, tonally Eastman's finest with a lot of Martin in it, but my AC422CE will still be a keeper. I'm considering buying a small body rosewood Guild F30-R, E40OM, E20OM-TC, BR-162 000. Martin rosewood guitars confuse me. Martins are like Sinatra: projecting a very "high quality" voice, very balanced with a lot of range and seem to be the standard that all others are compared to. Eastmans are like the smaller name brand, like Andy Williams, not nearly as popular, but projecting a beautiful and "sweeter" sparkling voice.

My 12 fret 000 Recording King is wonderful, but I just can't accept the 1 13/16th inch wide neck. I might have to sell it.....   

At the risk of of sounding like a salesman, I know people are looking for Eastman Thermo-Cure guitars. That said, I just got in another shipment that had 3 E20D- TC, and 6 more E10D-TC. We also have 2 E10OM-TC in. I really love these guitars. The E20's have already been shipped out and we should see some more in April. Sorry again for the sales pitch.

For those that followed my Eastman Warranty Experience my other thread, everything has been resolved and I now have my NGD.  

I had an E10SS that I had to send in for warranty replacement, Dan at Eastman took excellent care of me and worked with Acoustic Shoppe where I purchased my E10SS from to get me a different guitar model that I wanted, just had to pay MSRP difference.

Liz, John, and Jeremy at Acoustic Shoppe helped me out with my choice, demoed the remaining three OM TC guitars in stock and selected this one based on what I was looking for.  It arrived setup just about perfect and it still has a lot of saddle left for future adjustments.  

Now I just started playing in January last year with no experience so I have no proper guitar lingo to describe the guitar sounds.  I will say I don't feel like I lost anything dropping down in size from the E10SS.  I think it sounds amazing, open not tight, its more comfortable to play and I smiled when gave it a first strum.  Guitar arrived in perfect tuning after being in shipment from Thursday to Tuesday and hasn't required a tuning since I got it which seems impressive to me.  

I really like the darker top from the torrification process, the character in the wood which doesn't show through in pictures (i.e bear claw and shimmer in top), the tortise binding and the overall understated look of the guitar.   Now just waiting on a pick guard from Taylor at Holter.

Super happy with how everything turned out and glad Eastman and Acoustic Shoppe were able to work with me.   The Warranty thread is listed below.

Hi,
I have an Eastman Jazz Elite 17" body in like new condition I am selling. I do not see any cosmetic issues as it was only used in my studio. It has a hard shell black case but I do not think it was the original one.. asking $1799

I have a new E10OM-TC that had a somewhat pinging noise coming form the e string when fretted. It was minor and I intended to have a set up done anyway. I picked up the guitar yesterday and it appears to be a little more pronounced. It is when fretted at the third fret that it becomes very noticeable. It is very noticeable on D and G chords. I have capo'd the guitar at various locations and it will start to go away if capo'd above the second fret. It is gone if capo'd at the third fret or higher. I will bring the guitar back to the tech, but if anyone has any suggestions as to what should be considered, I would appreciate it.

PS - I am sure this can be resolved and I love the guitar. It is a perfect compliment to my E40OM.

Hi all, new member here with a 10 year old Eastman AC412.
I'm wondering what kind of humidity level extremes this guitar can take before I need to do something about it. This guitar is much lighter than other guitars I've had and I'm worried I need to be even more careful with humidity.

Here’s my review and thoughts on the Eastman E10 OM TC model. I’ve only had the guitar for 48 hours, so this isn’t necessarily a comprehensive review, but I can share some thoughts and observations:

First - the fit and finish: at this point for Eastman, every new model appears to be very high quality, whether it is the E1 series or the E10/20. This one is no exception. I really cannot find any flaws. The guitar has the same ‘feel’ in hand as many other high end boutique makers that one would pull off the hanger at an expensive guitar store. The fretwork is superb and guitar intonation is great up and down the neck.

The Thermocuring process gives the guitar top a nice, slightly darker amber color which I am quite fond of. I suppose this is just a personal preference thing, but I like the results visually. The back has the Eastman flamed flavor of mahogany we all appreciate.

The guitar neck is nearly identical to my E6-OM, nice C profile shape which I think is comfortable. String spacing is also good for me (fingerstyle player).

So - the main course: the tone! Let me first say that I do not have another Adirondack guitar to compare to, but I can contrast versus my E6 non-TC model with the Sitka top. The TC guitar sounds fantastic, and also very unique. There is an ‘open’ feel to the tone on the TC, where as I would describe the E6 as more ‘focused.’ Of course, the words ‘seasoned’ and ‘aged’ apply as well. The TC process seems to bring out a little more of the higher frequencies. The low end sounds more ‘woody’ ... it is the low-mid frequencies that seem to really give the guitar the aged played-in tone that folks desire. I think Chapboogie’s A/B comparision video of the E10 model(s) really does a decent job of capturing the tonal differences between the TC and non-TC flavors.

A few more thoughts: I don’t discern that the guitar is necessarily any louder than my E6 model. There is a little more immediate-ness to the response of the guitar (sorry, not sure how to describe it).

Most importantly - I view this guitar as an addition to expanding the tonal palette of my guitar collection; I am not declaring all my future tops must be TC tops in the future - I still love my E6 and AC512. That said, the E10-OM TC really has a tone all of its own and is unique. I can easily see why TC models are popular. It will be very interesting to hear how this guitar top and tone evolves 15 years from now! Thanks for reading (shout out to Madhat). I’ll get some photos up. Let me know if you have any questions.
