NGD - Eastman E10 OO SS
Posted by: zeebo - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

w00t its NGD here in Casa Zeebo.  I brought home to Manchester an Eastman E10 OO SS from Richards Guitars (https://rguitars.co.uk) in Stratford Upon Avon.  If you are looking for a guitar here in the UK, I cannot recommend Richard and his team highly enough.  The guitar is setup to perfection and feels absolutely perfect in my hands.  The ends of the frets just disappear under your fingers.  The intonation checked with the Peterson Strobe Tuner app is perfect.  I don't know how much of the setup is due to Richard's tech Chris and how much is out of the box Eastman but its the best setup acoustic I have ever had.  The guitar still sounds a bit "tight" but I expected that with a Red Spruce top.  That said it is still a fantastic sounding guitar both finger picked and strummed.  The back is beautifully flamed mahogany.  The rosewood board and bridge are so dark and dense that I thought Eastman had changed the specification to ebony, until I noted that on the Certificate of Authenticity, there is a CITES number for the rosewood. The fit and finish is perfect all round with the exception of a small scraping error around the soundhole below the end of the fingerboard.  As it is handcrafted I consider the blemish to be a "beauty mark" and I don't worry about it.  The 'burst is perfectly done and the laquer work is also perfectly applied and polished.  Am I gushing too much?  I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from a guitar made in China but honestly it wasn't this.  I have a 2016 Gibson J-35 which I thought was extremely well finished.  The Eastman is far and above a higher specification for essentially the same amount of money.  I will add some photos tomorrow.  Tonight I am too busy playing.

Anyone want to buy a J-35 so I can buy a Eastman slope shouldered dread? Rolleyes

  OM discussion

I have long wanted an OM guitar. I have been looking at the Eastman OM’s, but I think I read somewhere that Eastman keeps them shorter scale than standar.md. Is that true?

Also, what type of quality could I expect from a lower end OM vs the higher end?

  Installing a top strap button
Posted by: sleigh - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (15)

Y'know, I never thought to even ask about this when I bought my Eastman and to display my utter lack of observational powers, I didn't even notice until tonight as I was playing the guitar: there's no top strap button on my E10D. I searched the forum for "install strap button" and the search returned nothing. So...

Let me ask: is not having a top strap button standard for Eastman acoustics? Do all of you sit down to play and therefore don't need a strap?  Smile  If not, do you use the "tie to the headstock" method (which I personally don't like as to me it feels like that puts too much pressure on the neck); if not, where do you install the top strap button? On the treble side of the heel, as I've seen on most guitars? What have you strap users done for your own guitars?

Huh  Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks!

No affiliation with the seller, and really kind of glad I'm broke at the moment. Otherwise I might do something rash.

  Yet another introduction

Hello to all. I've just acquired my first Eastman, an E10D. So far I love everything about it: the look, the feel, and especially the sound. I was pointed to this site by Pura Vida; I'll have to browse around and get to know the rest of you.

I live in Cincinnati and have been a musician for many decades at this point. I play bass and share lead vocal duties with a local band, and occasionally do solo gigs where I play guitar and sing.

If you wish to know more about me than you ever wanted to know, here's my website:

Eastman AR403
=============
Hollow body archtop. Bought new in 2012. Upgraded all electronics to Gibson 57 Classic pickup, 500k audio taper CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, and an orange drop cap (.033). It includes its original hard case. It's a well played but in great condition. It was my main jazz guitar and I gigged with it, so you'll see some very minor wear. But I take good care of my gear. There is a scratch in between the volume and tone knobs and a finish imperfection between neck/body by the cutaway (see pics). It plays and sounds great! The electronics upgrades really do the trick...57 classic sounds sweet in it. It currently has D'Addario XL EJ21 (12-52) strings on it but the high E and B strings are swapped out to an .014 and an .018 respectively. I was going for that Peter Bernstein sort of tone I guess.

$725 + $50 shipping in continental usa

Ehere do you all get audio stuff? I like to keep a supply (from Ebay) of jacks and plugs but I found I am out of 1/4" jacks. So what chain might carry 1/4" jacks?

  T386
Posted by: Kconn - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (1)

I have noticed that the 3rd and 4th strings are very close to 2nd and 5th posts. Has anyone found this to be an issue and does the T386 have tuning issues like other simular models? Also what make are tuners and bridge? Is bridge metric?
Thanks
