NGD Seagull
Posted by: billymo - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (3)

The Guild  I bought a month ago will not be adopted into the family. It's bit bigger than my Eastman AC512 OM. It's also a little louder than my Eastman AC422 Grand Auditorium. The loudest OM I've played. The Eastmans in my opinion, have a prettier tone. I wanted a more mellow sweet sitka OM, so a Guild forum member is going to buy it, and I bought a Seagull Artist Studio Concert Hall Burst OM. That is actually the model name, all that, This is a very very sweet sounding sitka OM I am very happy with. I could have bought an Eastman sitka OM, but that would be too close to my AC422 GA. I'd say maybe the Seagull tone is between an E8OM and a  Martin 000-28. A strong bass and good projection. sweeter than the Martin 000 and OM sitka/rw models I've played.

  Waiting - Eastman AC320
Posted by: Treenewt - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (4)

This is a snippet of an original tune I've been messing with for a few years, "Waiting."  It's a simple little thing in G.  Played my AC320 on a beautiful Sunday morning in Oklahoma.

Video - Eastman E10OM-TC (Overjoyed - Stevie Wonder cover)
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (24)

Hey guys -

This video is a bit overdue; I wanted to capture my new Eastman E10OM-TC in action for the folks here on EGF.  As with any recording, the microphone, room and other variables can impact the final recording, but this hopefully provides a good feel for the tone of the TC.  I just got the guitar back from the shop today with a fresh setup, and it plays like a dream.  Brand new Elixir Phosphor bronze installed.

I think most folks know this classic Stevie Wonder song - the arrangement is by Adam Rafferty... thanks for watching/listening!

Brand new Blueridge BR-162, 000 body size, rosewood back and sides, sitka spruce top. Same body size as BR-163, differences are 1) 12 frets to the body and 2) 1 3/4" nut width rather than 1 11/16" and 3) Bridge is further away from the sound hole creating theoretically a warmer, more mellow tone. The BR-162 has a standard scale length like the BR-163 and BR-160. Price is $940 shipped no case, no gig bag. Shipped with case $1010. Personal check ok, or Cashier's check.   E40D Update
Posted by: Paul O'Donnell - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

G'dday mates - 70 degrees outside and I am eyeballing the fishing stuff and feeling fine......I got my E40D last July so I have had several months to really settle in with it - outside of a case issue (which Eastman corrected quickly and pleasantly, new case, completely hassle-free) everything has been 5 star. The 40 was my consolation prize for not being able to get a Thermocured Eastman Dred at the time. Turns out I couldn't be happier with the "substitute" git - it will compare favorably with most of the high-dollar stuff that is out there with regard to sound, playability and volume - gotta have volume when there are banjos lurking about....and is also pretty awesome in the cosmetics department - really feels like "my" guitar - living in dread of the day when some poseur grinds the tuners on his beater Epiphone into my Adi top - know it's gonna happen, just a question of where and when....Anyway, really happy with tha guitar.
Eager to hear some feedback and/or news on the Dred double tops.........

Photo The Eastman Finish issue
Posted by: euraquilo - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

My first Eastman was a gorgeous rosewood AC708 with a sound that I loved, but it had to go back to the seller because of severe finish crackling. You can see it in some pictures here.

I heard there have been some problems with the AC line and that it may be corrected now. I just ordered another Eastman - an E8OM that was manufactored in 2017. I'm hoping it sounds as beautiful as the AC708, and that it won't have the finish problems.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Dan

  Strings - El Rey 4
Posted by: Bert - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (8)

I know ER4 is supposed to be a jazz guitar but I don't play jazz solo or comp, but I do play plugged-in and love the acous/elec vibe.  No flat sounding round wounds or fuzz box screeching elecs for me, eek - get back in that box, nooo.

It came with NYXL 12-52 (wound 3rd), ok but had too much throaty bass.  Next came NYXL 11-50BT (unwound 3rd) much better but again, tad more bass than I need.  After the first set of NYXL 11-49 (unwound 3rd) I decided to try another set... bingo.  The tad less bass blends with the mids/trebles just right for me.

Love the unwound 3rd, bend that 3 for a spot of blues.  Bought a 3pk while they were on sale a couple weeks ago, good to go.
