New E20om tc returned
Posted by: tonykriegmaui - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

I play a Martin OOO-15sm and a D-18. I have had a Eastman OM in the past. It was about 8 years old so I thought that I would check out whether the newer one with tc tops had improved. Anyway, the new OM-tc was very nicely built with a "chimey" treble end but, compared to my OOO-15 the low end wasn't there. I'd describe the Eastman as having a "tight" low end. Anyway, was able to return in a few days later and expect to receive at E10ss soon.

  Eastman E1SS-LTD In stock again?
Posted by: Treenewt - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (21)

Just saw Acoustic Music Works had a natural and burst E1ss-LTD in stock on their website again, albeit for just under 1k now, so a bit of an increase from the previous iteration.  The one I played last year was one of the best dreads I've held in some time.  Wish I could take a leap on one of these!

The Rockin Lefty Uptown Sat'd'y Night Gitarre
Posted by: chwillie - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (8)

I'd never heard an Eastman until I got my old Uptown 810-CE a couple of months ago and was surprised at what a rocker it is. I hoped for and got a great Jazz sound (orig pup. and a 40 wt solid state Fender Rumble bass amp).  I cranked the Deluxe, and boy the 810 can rock. I plan on giving it flats soon, and if I didn't have a few guitars that cover the balls out stuff, I'd leave the rounds on and let er rip.

  Getting Knocked off Sites
Posted by: vashondan - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (8)

Off the wall question but in the last week or so I started getting unsigned (?) in to the sites that I frequent including here.  Whereas I would normally get automatically signed in I now have to sign in.  Updated my browser but that didn't work.  Any ideas about what might be causing this?

  Eastman guitar model spec descriptions?
Posted by: eljay - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

Hello all. Fairly new to this forum; enjoying my E10 OM-TC and DT30 OM!

In all my internet travels, I've not seen a "key" to the various Eastman guitar models.

For example, in another thread there's a reference to an E6. What are the specs of an E6 and how does it differ from an E10? (I get the TC part).

TIA, eljay

  Eastman VS Boutique
Posted by: jphenderson91 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

In your opinion how do Eastman acoustics stand up against high end manufactures such as Gibson, Taylor, Martin and even boutique brands such as Bourgeois, H&D, Santa Cruz?

I have more experience with Martin than any other brand and I think Eastman is on par with Martin in terms of build quality and wood selection.

Tone is a more family thing. By that I mean each maker has it’s own sound. However, I will say that I’ve had fit and finish issues on every Eastman I’ve owned. This is to be expected on a instrument that costs about half or a third of what the competition sells for.

For those that own Boutique instruments I am curious about how you feel Eastman holds up.

Thanks!

I’d like to throw Collings, Martin custom shop and high end Gibsons into the mix.

Somewhere I heard Eastman’s described as Chinese Boutique. Do you agree with that statement?

  Used AR804 Advice
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (2)

I was looking at a used AR804 and wondering whether I should make a bid. It belonged to the father of the owner who knows nothing about guitars. Do you think the damage to the top of the guitar by the neck indicative of neck problems? I've asked whether the damage to the finish is reflected on the other side under the pickguard.
