Last nite I was eating my dinner on the coffee table in front of the tv and surfing a bit on guitar sites.  I always have a bottle of beer with dinner but rarely drink much of it so there's usually plenty left when I'm done eating.  After I finish I started picking up my plate and bottle and tipped the bottle over an a bit poured onto the keyboard.  One of those slow mo things where you watch everything happening in slo motion.  I quickly turned it over wiped off the keyboard and put it upside down on a towel and am waiting 24hrs (per internet instructions) before turning it on again.  

I don't hear much good news about beer in computers because of corrosion and my tech said that he's only seen one laptop that survived a spill.  Nevertheless, I remain hopeful while I browse the Apple site looking at replacements.  It's my personal laptop vs my work and it has so much stuff on it and though mostly backed up I will probably lose some stuff.   I've read that even if it starts and works that any residual leakage will do it's thing and eventually it will kapoot!

I'm thinking maybe down the road I might pick up a mahogany body for playing finger style.  Do you guys prefer a Grand Auditorium or an Orchestra Model for playing finger style?

Howdy Y'all - Looking really hard at Crossrock cases for Eastman dreds - overall they usually get good reviews but I seem to remember some internet warrior claiming that he had unfixable problems with the fit for his dred - I would be way more comfortable hearing from an EGF member if anyone has a comment - Thanks in advance !!

Stopped into my local shop today.  Always cruising to see what (if anything) is new.  To my surprise they had a new E8OM-TC... but that was not what was surprising.  It was labeled (inside the body) as E6OM-TC, and priced accordingly- $1099!  Clearly wrong - rosewood back and sides, snowflake inlays, herringbone binding.  Should I just snatch it up?  I didn't point out the discrepancies to the owner as I just might take advantage of the situation.  Is there a way to determine that the top is indeed torrefied?  I might take my E6 in and play them side by side.  Heck, I might even trade... though I doubt it.  I love my mahogany.  $1100 is not pocket change, but I can't deny that my head has been turned.

Do any of you very knowledgeable Eastman fans have an explanation?  I would worry that it is B-stock but for the fact that the label is incorrect... and I seem to be the only person that knows it!

I have two Eastman OMs, which is one too many, and this one is up for sale because, being rosewood, it has an abundance of overtones which don't mesh well with my fingerstyle playing. Otherwise, a sonic gem!

I swung by Johnson Strings in Newton Lower Falls MA today.  Their web site said they had several Eastman guitars in stock, but when I arrived they didn't have any on display.  After talking to the floor rep she disappeared and came back a few minutes later with an AC422CE and an E20OM.  That was great, as I specifically wanted to play rosewood guitars today.

These were both BEAUTIFUL guitars.  Much more beautiful than the E6OM TC I played last week at Strings n' Things in Concord NH.   The AC422CE had a wonderful, balanced sound, and it didn't take long for my brain the start saying "This is the one."

Then I played the E20OM.  The E20OM has a slightly different tone, more chime-like.  More highs & lows.  As I went back and forth between the two, both flat picking and finger picking, digging-in to both the bass notes and the treble melody, I actually decided I liked the E20OM better.  It seemed more "opposite" to my '86 spruce & mahogany Guild D-25.

I'm still saving up my nickels & dimes & bottle caps & breakfast cereal box tops for my next guitar, but as of now it will definitely be an Eastman, probably one of these two, and highly likely the E20OM.

Hey Guys - just joined the group and have my first question.
Are all E10SS tops split in two pieces? I would have thought (looking at the factory tour) that the ado top was all one piece!
I’ve been waiting over 3 months for my new guitar after so much research and having owned Gibsons, Martins, Taylors in fact may other top end brands.
I was told today by guitar shop seller that most tops are two pieces joined, yet I’ve never seen this before.
I frustratingly sent the guitar straight back as all scratched under strings above saddle which can only have been done by re-stringing.
Am I being ‘told a tale’ here?
Any help appreciated.
