Did you play both ? How do they compare ?

I saw Sigma has some nice 12 frets OOO-Dread guitars, their prices are generally nicer than Eastman and the Sigma guitars have more bling.
Did you have the experience to play both ?

Following up on the Eastman vs. Taylor tangent discussion on cello, I wanted to share a couple of songs from Bob Mould's "Workbook" album.  For those unfamiliar, Bob Mould was the guitarist of the 80s Minneapolis punk power trio, Husker Du and 90s alternative rock group, Sugar.

When Husker Du broke up, Bob released his first solo album, and people expected a very electric, distorted, fast tempo album filled with 2-3 minute rockers.  Instead, he released an album that different than anything he recorded with his old band, including some slower, darker tracks and plenty of acoustic guitar and cello accompaniment.

Incidentally, Bob Mould was one of my kids' first concerts in 2015.  He played an exclusive solo electric show at the old Napa City Winery prior to the release of a solo album, and I got tickets for the family.  There were less than 100 people at the event, and Bob high-fived my daughter after the show.

The first song is "Sinners And Their Repentances," which has a very prominent cello voice alongside Bob and his acoustic guitar.





The second song is "Brasilia Crossed With Trenton," which is a song that I play on my guitar, although as a much slower version to pull the brilliant lyrics out to the front (a method I learned watching Ryan Adams cover his song, "Black Sheets Of Rain").

Well, I finally cracked open the E2D today. It has a really nice dark top, photos don't really do it justice. Not sure why the photos came out sideways, it was right side up on my phone.
Some really nice dark streaks throughout it too.
Sides really pop, and the back looks good too. I think this rosette looks incredible. I know it gets mixed reviews, but I love it. I may end up swapping out the tuners for some cream or snakewood buttons at some point. The rosette has some cream colored squares or diamonds, so I think the creme color would look good.

Overall, fit and finish seem about perfect. There is a little wood splinter near the truss rod opening. Real small, but the little piece of wood is pulling away. Hopefully that won't be an issue. I wouldn't think so right?

So far, it sounds really good! I'm not necessarily blown away by the tone just yet, but it's a brand new guitar and has brand new strings (EJ16s). I don't think it realizes it's a guitar yet. And I never think a guitar sounds its best with brand new strinfs. I think it'll soon sound even better. Still sounds really good. I played it in both standard and DADGAD. Sounds great in both tunings, but really sounds phenomenal in DADGAD. I compared it to my E8OM-TC. From a tone standpoint, the E2D is louder, and seems to have more projection and presence. I'm not sure if that's because of the larger body on the E2, the fact that it's a standard scale compared to the short scale on the E8, or the fact that my E8OM-TC has old strings. Or all of the above.

It's funny how different a guitar sounds once you play another one next to it. I still love my E8OM-TC, but it now sounds a bit tubby or not as full/boxy when I play it next to my E2D. No slight on the E8OM-TC, and I'm not saying the E2D is better. They're just totally different animals, which is what I wanted!

I think I'll swap out these EJ16s for some DR Rares soon.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm excited to see how the tone develops over the next few months!

Also, the soft case is much nicer than I expected. I bought this from The Acoustic Shoppe, so shout out to them. I also bought my E8OM-TC from them.

Hey guys, I’m sure it’s simple, but I can’t seem to find the simple way to acknowledge, reading a comment made on a post of mine or liking a comment

I have a leather strap attatched to the headstock of my e20 OO. The strap runs under the strings behind the nut and its a bit too thick so the strings push it down a lot. Anyone have an idea if this might be detrimental to the tone? i recon it might? i took a picture but i bot sure how to attatch it…

Hi Eastman Fans!, I have a new T486 and it has generic kluson style tuners. I am wondering if anyone knows the tuning peg hole diameter on the Eastman T486 models/ I have looked everywhere and cannot find this information. There are two sizes of Kluson locking tuners I'd like to replace these with, the old vintage size and the new modern size. Both look exactly like the old Kluson style that is on there, although the locking ones have the locking button sticking out of them. On the inside they each have different peg hole sizes.The vintage style has a peg hole about 8.75 mm (11/16), whereas the modern styles generally use a 10mm hole. Every article I have read from people that replaced these said they had to drill a larger hole, but no one has said what the exact measurement is. I believe I can get drop-in replacements if I know the size. Obviously I'm hoping to avoid taking one off until I have the new ones. I'd switch tuner brands before drilling. There are also nice graph-tech varieties that will work in any peg hole size, but I prefer Klusons and prefer not to drill...

Hi!

Looking to install a strap button somewhere on the neck heel and thought it would be neat if it matched the ebony button already on the guitar. I don’t love the look of a standard steel one. Anyone know where to get one? Can Eastman supply one?
