I've been thinking about this subject for a while and been meaning to create this thread.  But then, a few days ago, I was chatting with a co-worker, who is also a guitarist.  He's been playing for as long as I have, but he plays mostly electric guitar in his worship band at church.  He confessed that he can play specific parts in these songs, as part of an ensemble, but outside of church, when asked to play a song, he really can't play any songs from end-to-end b/c he's never learned to be a rhythm player.

It was fascinating b/c I've always sold myself short on my playing ability b/c I was self-taught and learned mostly chords and rhythm.  So, while I can't play scales or fingerstyle, and I couldn't solo to save my life, like so many of my musician friends... I can play dozens (probably a few hundred) songs well enough to sing along -- or at least fake it well enough that others will recognize what I'm playing.

Growing up, I always paid more attention to the song arrangement than just the vocal or lead guitar.  While people were listening to AC/DC and learning Angus's solos, I was listening to Malcolm's riffs.  I love Pete Townshend's songwriting and playing, along with Neil Young, David Gilmour, and Jeff Tweedy... plus a host of garage rockers like Mike Ness (Social Distortion).

** So, let's hear it for my fellow rhythm players.  We're more than just "strummers," right?


** (full disclosure: I'm a little jealous when I see someone like John Chapman doing a crazy fast bluegrass run.  But I'm also jealous when I see someone playing piano, violin, or all the other things I can't do as well, LOL!)

Any Eastman owners use the above, such as the John Pearce type? I used one on a Farida OT-22W, and it sounded quite a bit louder not having the arm draped over the guitar. Your experience?

Hey everyone, just bought a SB59/v-AMB on offerup yesterday here in LA and I tried to check out the serial number with the contact page on Eastman and they replied "Unfortunately we do not have information on this serial. Are you looking at a guitar outside the US?". Doesn't have a CoA but the tag on the back of the pot cover has the serial number and info like the other ones. I bought a 2017 SB59/v from the same guy a couple weeks back and that was legit and Eastman had the info for that serial number but not this one. Should I be suspicious of this? Sounds and feels like the other one he sold me. Thanks for the help in advance, just want to make sure I didn't get screwed.

of Eastman acoustic guitars do you own, and, what strings do use for your type of music/style? Do you prefer one brand over another, or, does one brand suit all of your Eastman guitars? Thanks in advance.

I have a new Rickenbacker 330 . I posted about it in other brands . It's one different guitar and getting the action where I wanted the springs on the bridge Allen screws aren't Long enough to make contact putting pressure on the bridge. Do you think it will be ok or should I get longer springs ? And where do i get those nice chrome spring's , just to keep it looking original if you think I should .

Guitar is beautiful but I was thinking oh know not liking it . The sound wasn't good through my fender and my pedals . I got on line and people said cleaner amp the better . Plugged into a fishman acoustic amp and felt the vibe right away ! The bridge pickups killer clean . Neck sounded muffled so I changed the pots from 330 to 500k and now the neck sound's as good as the bridge, or as Rickenbacker would say bass sounds as good as the treble pups lol .
It is one weird guitar for sure the controls are setup strange . The action was a little high and very high at the nut . Setup easy thankfully and action is nice now . Feels like a keeper to me .

New poster with a few quick questions. I’m trying to determine if there was a finish change on the PCH1-OM and / or E1OM guitars at some point. I’m currently in the market for a reasonably priced travel / campfire guitar. I guess some of my concerns are regarding the open pore top spec & body. I thought these had a gloss top at least in appearance in some photos. Also is the neck open pore? Not sure I’m liking the open pore concept, any info on this particular finish?

Can’t find any locally to check out in person and these would need to be ordered so I’m trying to avoid surprises.

Any help would be appreciated!

I find it odd that Eastman doesn’t offer the above with the toasted top? Any thoughts on this?

Not that I would buy one from Europe or that it is a competitive price, but maybe this indicates better availability is close for the US market. This is an Eastman dealer in France with three each of the TC sitka OMs and dreads.
