Hi all. This is my first post on the forum. Long story short, I bought a mint second-hand E1OM and I'm struggling with its tone even after a pro set-up and I'm not sure what to do.

I tried one in a shop and enjoyed it but when I came to pull the trigger a few weeks later, they had sold out with a wait on restocking.

In the meantime one popped up on Reverb for a good price, so I bought it.

It arrived in perfect condition and the tone was gorgeous but the action was over 3mm and it was tough to play, especially barre chords.

Rather than irreversibly change the saddle by sanding it down, I tried a number of bone and tusq saddles. None of them sounded right as the crowns were shaped the opposite way to the original saddle, which sloped towards the neck with the flat side facing the bridge.

Eventually, I bit the bullet and sanded down the OG saddle to close to spec (about 2.4mm) and tried to adjust the truss rod but still barre chords were very stiff and buzzy/squeaky (I can play them fine on my cheap Yamaha acoustic and my electrics). The tone also less rich than before and a little muted on certain strings even.

After much tinkering with the truss rod, I gave up and got it looked at by my local tech. He charged me £80 (ouch) for basically changing the strings to 11s and, according to him at least, straightening the neck.

It sounds... ok. Not as nice as the one in the shop and not as nice as before I lowered the action. It is rather unforgiving to play and punishes even slightly sloppy chord fingerings with buzz more than any of my other guitars. This is especially true of barre chords but even some open chords.

I am using it to learn finger style and if its not too quiet, it's buzzing from overplucking the strings, even though my touch isn't all that heavy.

The D string is also rather muted and plinky from around the middle of the neck.

Is there anything I can do, or is it just a case that me and this particular guitar don't quite gel. I really want to love it, the sapele is gorgeous and the tone CAN be beautiful, when it's not buzzing or plinking. Any advice appreciated, as I WANT to be an Eastman fan!

What do yall recommend for acoustic guitar wall
hangers? The consensus seems to be Hercules and String Swing. I’m most concerned with the hook damaging the finish of the neck. I’ve heard both are fine in that regard. Structurally, I’ve seen a number of Hercules reviews stating the metal tube can break over time. Yet some others state Hercules is more sturdy than String Swing.

What do you guys recommend? Any other brands to consider?

Hi folks, recently had the good fortune to come across a used E20SS/v for sale and snatched it up. I had been looking for this model for awhile and its the first varnish Eastman guitar I have ever played. Its everything I heard described of it, big, detailed, dry and vintage tone, responsive and huge bass. I will also add it is the lightest weight of all my Eastman slopes (I also own the E10SS and the E6SS-TC). I just sold my E20SS-TC, which was absolutely wonderful also, but I sold it only when the E20SS/v came into my fold. They overlapped for 1 week so I could put through the paces head to head. I sometimes do not sell a guitar when I acquire another one, but I try to when possible. The varnish version sounds very different than the TC version. The E20SS-TC was a foot stomping rhythm monster, loved it. But as my E10SS also is, I let the 20SS-TC go. I always thought it sounded very similar to my E20OM with its dark, smokey, soulful tone. Of course the OM is less bassy, but still has that nice deep thumping low end I love and can carry a soulful tune when called upon. I will miss it. The E20SS/v is different, a bit wild, in a good way. It feels like its got alot to say and has a lot of songs in it. It can handle rhythm, but needs a bit of hand muting to tame it enough to carry it off well. So its versatile. I am finding after 2 weeks of playing the E20SS/V, that it is similarly reminding me of a bigger, bassier version of my E40OM. They are both my lightest weight Easties, both very dry and vintage sounding, with a responsive top. The huge bass on the slope just blows me away. I smile everytime I play it and hear that throaty growl. Both the 40OM and 20SS/v have very detailed note seperation and shimmering trebles. Both of these guitars are actually brighter on the high end than I typically go for, but on these 2 guitars, the ringing trebles just work. I dig it. Cant put the thing down. Also gave me new appreciation for the E40OM as i feel like I have a smaller version of a similar tone for playing around the house. I put a pickup in the E20SS/V yesterday and wiill be playing it out this weekend so will get a feel for how it fits in a mix, but expecting it will not disappoint.

One intriguing piece of info is that Eastman are collaborating with Kauffmann guitars  (https://www.tfoa.eu/en/shop/category/bra...uffman-245) maybe to produce a new model? No more info on this at the moment but one to watch!

Selling my E20OM-MR-TC. If you're looking at this you probably know this is a special guitar. Lightly built and very balanced sound. Nothing wrong with it, in mint condition, never played out, no pickup installed. I just bought a Martin OM-28 instead. Comes with original hard shell case and all the case candy. $1500 plus actual shipping cost. I'm in Cleveland, OH, to help you get an idea of the cost.

I lent my T59/v to a musician friend assuming he knew how to take care of high end guitars as he'd owned several.  Well, I was wrong.  The day he was set to bring the guitar back to me he left it in his car all day when the temperatures were in the 90s (confirmed by the temperature sensor I had stashed in the case pocket).  Unfortuntately I didn't discover for another week when I opened the case.  If I had done such a thing while borrowing a friend's guitar, I would have instantly offered to buy it from him, but that didn't happen.  I had it in a Crossrock travel case, and everywhere the finish was touching the case, it melted.  Lesson learned: remember not to leave guitars in the heat and refrain from lending anything to friends anymore.  

I have an Eastman E1D. My best guitar in my limited experience. I am comfortable playing it and the sound has improved over the past two years. Have a chance to get a Larrivee d-02. Have not seen this guitar yet. Supposed to be in excellent condition. It is about 20 years old. Priced at $700. I am a left handed player, used nice quality guitars at reasonable prices for lefty's don't pop up often in this area.
My question is build quality, and sound quality compared to my E1D? Thanks.

I've had my E40D for a while now but never had to adjust the truss rod. I noticed it's set back inside very deep. Is that normal for this model? On my other guitars, the truss rod is pretty much at the front of the hole. Thanks for any help. I know Pura Vida has a E40 probably around the same age as mine. Hopefully, he will respond.
