Pickup for E10SS?
Posted by: DFB - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (6)

New guy in the block so if I put this in the wrong area my apologies.

Any suggestions? Thinking of a Baggs Anthem or Schutler at this point but open to any and all feedback. Also peeked at a couple of K&K. It's just for me - home player but like to experiment and willing to spend the cash upfront vs trying to save a buck and then end up spending it again on a better unit.

Thanks for any guidance.

Hoping to get some opinions from people who have played these models. I'm just wondering how the compare and what the tonal differences are. What would be your recommendation out of the bunch?

I've just seen that there is a limited version of this model:

It looks and sounds promising!

Does anyone know more about it?

  Eastman Serial Numbers
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Recently I noticed an E10ss/v for sale. Its serial number began not with an 'M' as might be expected, but with an 'L'. For info the first five characters of the serial number were 'L2100' - does  anyone know what the 'L' signifies?

  Sanity Check

Hello all.  I am about to pull the trigger on a small body guitar.  It’s down to either the E10OO or the E20OO.  I like the idea of the 1 13/16th nut.  Curious how much of an upgrade is the 0040 (bling aside).  Also may be looking at a used Taylor 322E as well (I know it’s different animal).  Just looking for general comments and thoughts.  I will mainly be playing finger style.   The E10OO is currently in the lead.  Figured that would be a nice complement to my classical (which I am in the early stages of learning)

Thanks again for any thoughts/insights.

  scale length string tension 411
Posted by: dmoss74 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

i have the following two guitars for comparison.

2015 E6OM, scale length 24.9"
2024 E10SS-TC, scal length 24.75"

the guitars are both strung with the same 12-53 gauge strings.

thw stings on the E6OM are way less tight feeling and bend rather easily. The strings on the E10SS are a lot stiffer, and are harder to bend, which to me is puzzling, considering the scale lengths.

The action at the 12th frets on both are close. .080 on the E20SS and maybe .078 on the E6OM.

The nut heights might be a little different. I still am waiting for my tech to get an open slot for me to bring in the E20SS. I haven't measured for relief, but they sight about the same. Maybe a hair more bowed than straight on the E6OM.

Anyone have an idea here? I would think the shorter scale E10 would have more bendability on the strings.

thanks

Recent 60s Reissue Gibson Slopes with adj saddles.

These are my Gibson purchases of late. The J-45 is from 2023 and the J-50 is from 2020.My initial impression after having the 50 for mere days is that there is very little difference in tone compared with the red 45. They are both home run examples to my ears, and testament to the fact that Gibson is building very consistent guitars nowadays.

I’ve always hear non flattering commentary about Gibsons with adjustable saddles. Then I played one and it was over.

For what it’s worth these were each bought used for less than the price of a new E20ss.

I wanted to post this here, because I did first try an E10ss/v. The Gibsons have more bass, and more range. The Eastman sounded a little too trebly for my liking, with not enough bass. Anyways, different folks, different ears, no knock on Eastman, but it’s good to know there Are choices out there.
