I recently hooked up with a group of guys playing a weekly jam. With winter coming I need something a little more impervious to weather that could handle going from a warm house to a cold car to a warm practice room back to the cold car and return to the warm house. . I have decided to add a carbon fiber guitar - Journey, Rainsong or ?? Unfortunately I have been informed that the collection can change but not the over-all headcount. I am offering up a 2017 E8D with JJB (K&K) pick-up and John Pearse mini rosewood armrest as well as a 2016 Martin 000-18 with same pick-up and John Pearse slimline ebony armrest. Pricing is $750 and $1700 respectively. Both guitars are in very good to excellent condition. There is one small ding on the bass side of the lower bout on the E8D. I recently purchased an E1D and it's beautiful, plays easily, projects very well, and sounds great! If you check out the specs at their website, you'll find it is an amazing value. I have come to prefer sapele over mahogany for the back and sides of my guitars. To my ear it sounds much the same but with slightly more bass. If anyone wants a high-quality, all-solid-wood guitar for less than $500, this is it! Once again, Eastman sets a superb example and beats the competition.

My GoldTone PBR reso came from the factory with something worse than Grover Rotomatics.... clone Rotomatics.

After a number of years, I just couldn't take another day of the clunky funky Edsel of tuners.

This is the 3rd set of SE700s I've ordered from Arkansas Musicworks over the past few years, 50 bucks (+ 9 for the 'be-gone Roto bushings'). Not a drop-in replace but easy enough after you've done a couple. I believe that Gotoh 510s are a drop-in replace?

The Gotoh SE700s are 1/2 the weight of the Edsels and everything about them excellent, far superior in operation. The tone of the PBR now has a deeper/clear bass and mids/trebles are more lively. Wanted to replace with something that didn't have so much turning play..... & butt ugly. I would never have guessed the margin of improvement overall. goodly

SE700s are a drop-in replace for Grover StaStuks btw, no bushings needed and screw holes line up, no problem.

Here's the story of how I came to buy and now to sell this. I've had my T185 since 2008. Great guitar, much played. Lusted after a P90 variant, but didn't want to mess with the T185 because I liked it as it was. Got a good deal on an AR 380. Again, great guitar! Then got a decent deal on the T184 and bought it to put the HP90s in. Sounds great!

So now I'm playing the AR 380 and the T184. I plan to put HP90s in the T185 as soon as I can sell the T184, because the AR 380 is taking care of my humbucker desires. Selling the T184 instead of the T185 because I prefer the slightly larger body for playing sitting down (I'm 6'1") and because the T184 is in better condition, so I think it will be easier to move.

I acquired a Sire bass (the V7 Marcus Miller model) this year, and the quality of the instrument is fantastic for the price I paid - not even 500€. Well, the quality is fantastic regardless of the price actually.

I've been reading in different places about the apparent progression fo Eastman Guitar quality - fit and finish - over time. Mostly, I've read that Eastman quality was pretty spotty until the past two or three years, then leaped to a top-tier quality control output. Any real truth to that? Since I didn't even know Eastman acoustics existed in, say, 2013, I am very curious as to this perceived (or not) quality progression. Does anyone here have a bunch of historical experience / knowledge of this issue with Eastman? I know many makers (ie, Gibson, Martin, etc) have had 'dips' in QC, but I'd like to gain an educated perspective on the Eastman line.

Also, is there a way to date my Eastman? My E6om is great, and it would be nice to know exactly how old it is.

As you can see, I have updated EGF... actually a complete overhaul. I've been working in my free time to prepare for the update, and here it is!

So - I'd love some feedback... I personally think this new style is much more pleasing than the previous version, but I am open to hearing from the forum - whatcha think?

The only thing that did not (yet) carry over is the 'likes' tally from our previous system. You can still like posts with the update, but as of now I am not tracking like amounts per individual user - just at the post level. I am still working through a few minor items, but if any of you find any issues, please reply here and let me know.

Does anyone have any ideas re the percentage of domestic US guitar sales Eastmans constitute?

Guitars n Jazz has two natural T-486's in stock, and they claim that Eastman has only made five this year in natural. Previously I have only known of two 486 models in natural out in the wild, mine and another user on this board. If you're like me and prefer a natural finish these are the ones to get.
