Ive seen some people install les paul style pick-gaurd and poker chips on their SB59. Just wondering where you get them from. would I just grab one from Stew-Mac? Also, I understand the spacing is slightly different from a Gibson and it requires slight modification of the pick-gaurd, what tools would/did you use to shave off a bit of it?

I did a restring on my E2D last night with some GHS PB lights, and the B string was missing from the sealed baggie. Has anyone ever had this happen? I’ve never seen that. Not the end of the world as I had a couple of extra packs of DR Rare, but I’ve just never seen a string missing from a sealed baggie, lol.

So I had posted about my new Eastman, help on removing the pick guard, etc. came with very high action. Got a good setup but really just didn’t like the tone, had a bunch of “zing”.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, a guy saw a new guitar post I made and that I was having second thoughts about it. He asked if I’d swap it for his Gibson J35. Out of the norm for me but thought I’d try it. Made the trade, the Gibson was nice but I’m a small guitar guy. He wrote me last week and said he couldn’t handle the neck, would I trade back. Nice guy so I said sure.

Got the E10 back and I’m crazy about it. Strings may have settled and quelled the zing and it sounds great.

To commemorate 20 years in business Ted and Helene at LA Guitar Sales had Eastman make a re-issue of their custom E5SS models from a few years back with some nice upgrades. The new model is an E10-LGSS/V-LTD-SB. I was fortunate enough to grab one of the limited quantities.
Top - torrefied Adirondack
Back/Sides - premium African Mahogany (Khaya)
Finish - sunburst with an antique varnish
Rosewood fretboard and bridge
Nut and saddle bone
Nut - 1.75"
Saddle spacing 2 3/16"
Neck - comfortable medium C shape
Tuners - upgraded Gotoh SEs

The guitar is similar in size to a Gibson LG2 but not as deep in the end block. Also the scale length is 24.75" (corrected 4/30/25)'. Overall it kind of reminds me of a cross between a Martin 00 and Gibson LG2. It is surprisingly light for an Eastman - 3 lb 12 oz. I think that is partially due to the finish but I notice the bracing seems to be reduced especially the back bracing compared to older models. The two things I noticed most is it seems to project very well for a small body and has an extremely balanced tone to it. I am not much of a fingerstyle player, but it seems to be very responsive to a light touch for a new guitar.
Congratulations to LA Guitar Sales for 20 years in business and well done with this anniversary model. FWIW I have only had it a few days and I think it is a winner. Very comfortable in size with good volume and great spruce/mahogany tone.

They build about 50 a month of copies of martin,gibson and lowden guitars and gear they are great sounding guitars. The prices are not bad at all. Has anyone played some of the martin copies?

Hi all,

I recently saw an interesting video on YouTube. It was promoting slotting the pin holes and using unslotted pins. This was apparently the standard practice pre-1950. The video poster was Driftwood Guitars. Has anyone here tried this? What was the result? They presented a good argument for making this modification.

Hi everyone,
 I am the proud owner of an AR580CE, which I bought online last month. It’s a great instrument with an amazing sound, and that’s what really matters to me. I don’t normally scrutinize guitars too much. I prefer to focus on playing and trying to improve my skills.
 That said, last night while playing, I noticed a small imperfection on one of the higher frets. I suspect it’s been there from the beginning, but I’m a bit concerned it might have been caused by the neck shrinking or something similar.I’ve attached a few pictures for reference. What are your thoughts? Is this just a QC (quality control) issue, or could it be a sign of a bigger problem with the fretboard?
