I posted this in the sales forum, but think it may make an interesting discussion topic:

I got an E2D recently and am in love.  Eastman is having quite a run lately.  They seem to have built up an incredible batch of tonewoods (and skilled luthiers) which I'm assuming can't last forever and which is making the biggest difference in their incredible sound/quality. 

Their mahogany with the cross grain is amazing.  But already I'm seeing some of their newer build mahogany guitars have less of that cross grain or none at all.  As a fan of scotch whiskey, this reminds of when a smaller distillery starts putting out some incredible whiskey (usually because they have some great older barrels stored which they are blending in).  As they gain notoriety and sell more and more, they use up their reserves of that older whiskey and inevitably, the quality drops. 

I'd expect that soon some of their most skilled luthiers will set up their own shops or join some other brands.  And that their stocks of amazing tonewoods will start to dwindle as their sales continue to climb.  Even if that happens, the price will probably still be enough to make them stand out, but right now their quality/sound isn't good 'for the price', it seems to be great full stop.  So I'm wondering if we'll look back at the last 3-5 years and the next few as their golden age (or golden decade).  

Are others here thinking the same?

I bought a new guitar Collings 360 . I really thought I hit pay dirt when I played it back to back with my SG with mini humbuckers as the Collins has mini's . Both are mahogany set neck guitars that are on the thin size with mini's and the Collings is just better ! Now the real test I pull out my Gibson Les Paul killer ( Eastman sb59 )
I'm actually hoping this Eastman has met it's match . I plug them into a A/B box and go at it . No this can't be the Collins isn't going to lose?

SB59 sounds better lightly overdriven and heavily overdrive. To be fair the Collins is stock ,the Eastman has a Gibson 94 neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan 59 with A2 magnet stock wiring .
Lol Eastman you have caused me to sell 4 or 5 Les Paul's , two 335's , a few jazz boxes and even a heritage eagle jazz box. Now my trusty SG could go .

I received a new e40 OM natural and would like to post photos but very tech challenged!

Can someone provide details on how to accomplish this?

I want to get an Eastman but no new or used ones around. A used one just showed up. So what is up with the Ltd model? Only made in 2013? Nut width?
Anyone have experience with this model?
It is 4 hours away so looking for input before making the journey to try it out. Price seems ok if in condition described.

Interesting guitar. Too similar to my Larrivee 12 fret SD-50 tobacco burst to be of any serious interest to me. If it were 50% cheaper I would like to own it for a while and then move it on.

Since the current outdoor temperature in Southwest Missouri is akin to living on the sun, today seemed like a good day to fine tune the setup on a PCH 3.
The stock Ping tuners have been swapped out for Schaller's, oversized ebony pins sanded down to fit while maintaining the larger head on the pins. Red Tortiloid pickguard replaced the stock black guard and brought the action down at the saddle by a tad over a 64th of an inch. A fresh set of D'Addario medium nickel bronze strings and all is right.
A good day by any measure.

Just noticed on the Eastman site that the 40 OM price has increased by $500.00.

Glad I got my order in beforehand!
