Evening All (or Good morning if you are across the pond!)

I've now managed to play the SB59 in both varnish and nitro versions, and if I had the cash I'd buy both and add the stunning 55v as well, but I'm in enough trouble with the amount of guitars I have at the moment! I'm split between the gold-burst V and the sunburst N. Bright and shiny and new looking with SD59's which I already have fitted to another guitar that I own, or Lightly relic-ed and Loller pickups which sound fantastic.

One thing I have noticed from endless trawling on the internet is the variation in colour on the V. I'd really like one that looks like this:

(I'd also like to play like that too, but that's a different conversation!)

But the 2 that I've played (in different shops) have looked a lot lighter, almost yellow with very pale colouration. The backs too have been an awful lot lighter. Have Eastman changed the stain colour? or have I just tried 2 that are paler than usual? If any SB59V owners out there could offer some guidance and perhaps post a picture of their own guitar, I'd much appreciate it.

Perhaps this has already been discussed but I couldn't find much with a search...
 I recently bought a PCH3 Koa, which I'm enjoying playing very much while waiting for a new E8OM TC that 
I've ordered to arrive.
 I'm very impressed with the sound. Maybe I just got an exceptionally nice one? I was looking around inside to see what kind of bracing the guitar has- it looks very tidy in there- light X bracing with some small free standing arched reinforcements.
 Is there that much of a difference between light X bracing and scalloped bracing? I'm hoping to have my socks knocked off since the new one cost three times as much as the PCH.
 I'm also thinking about getting a PCH D size in mahogany because I don't have one- all my D's are rosewood.

I'm pretty close to buying an E6D-TC, and I'm trying to decide on which one I think looks best. I named them Jim and David so you can distinguish between the two.

I prefer when the top soundboards don't have the little line down the middle because it looks like two pieces of wood. I like it when the top soundboard looks like just one piece.

I know, I'm way over thinking this. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Hey there,

I'm wanting to buy a new guitar here soon, but was wondering if I am better off waiting for Black Friday deals? Do you guys typically see much better deals for Black Friday? I remember seeing some great discounts on Reverb during 4th of July and labor day

I was watching this recent video and I wasn't sure if any one posted this.  In this video at 7:24 they show a cart of tops Dana has voiced for the collaboration.  It appears to me that they're braced like Dana does.  Scalloped on one side and tapered on the other.  Thought it was pretty cool to see what might be with these new guitars.  As the new owner of a Bourgeois that is setup like this, I must say it sounds excellent! 

So it appears Dana is making and voicing the tops completely in Maine and is then sending them to China for final assembly.  Also, I can't tell if the holes near the neck join mean that these will be bolt-on vs dovetail or not.  I'm looking forward to these.

So I was intending to try some Bluegrass strings 12-56 on my Eastman SS, and out of the blue I saw that Sleigh was offering board members some from his stash so I jumped at the offer.  They arrived this week just as all the drama with the E10SS/V was also going on.  But I now have choices for the first official restring for "Itchy". 

So thanks very much for the strings!  I can't wait to try them.  I'm leaning towards trying the GHS first.  Any thoughts are welcomed.  I've attached a few picks of the Eastman with the string assortment.  Decisions decisions!

I’m new to this forum, but I’ve been lurking for quite a while. I use the same name on Acoustic Guitar Forum, where I’ve been a member since 2016. My home is in Southern CT, where I’ve been an active member of the local music scene. 

My first experience with Eastman guitars came 3 years ago when I picked up an E6OM-Ltd as my gigging guitar. I replaced the stock LR Baggs Element with a JJB soundboard pickup.

Around a year later, a friend came to town and fell in love with it, so I sold it to him and picked up a Rainsong CH-OM to replace it. While I liked the Rainsong and really appreciated the fact that I could play outside without tuning issues no matter what the humidity was, I had a bad case of seller’s remorse pretty much as soon as I sold the E6OM.

This week, my friend let me know that he really can’t play guitar any more due to hand issues, so the E6OM will be on its way back home this week. Can’t wait. The Rainsong will go up for sale once the E6OM settles in.

I also decided to get into the electric world and picked up an Eastman T184MX-LS (Lil Smokey) to scratch that itch.

So in my quest to find an Eastman slope shoulder I found a E10SS/V that was listed as mint with zero issues on reverb.  It was a very good price and the seller had a great reputation so I jumped on it thinking I'd finally hit pay dirt.  I received it yesterday, let it rest until today and opened it this morning and as the french would say 'le sigh'.  The finish on the sides was wrinkled / sticky / hazy.  I've attached a few pics.  Its quite the contrast from the smooth and beautiful back and other parts of the sides.  I reach out to the seller saying that this is obviously not mint and he's trying to tell me that this is how the Eastman antique process works.  

Can folks out there with a E10SS/V let me know if the finish on theirs looks like the one in the pics???  I've seen several E10SS/Vs for sale as B-Stock with similar issues so I'm pretty sure that's the case here.  I'm just trying to double check if what's falling on me is actually rain or is the seller is p@@ing on me.

Some type of very thin water based satin finish that may be resistant to "Shining Up" where your arm rests on the top.
