I have an opportunity to add something that is a bit more uncomfortable financially. To keep the peace at home I would probably have to move two, if not three, of my guitars. I am still waiting for a final price so that I can decide which ones and whether they all will need to go. Here is a list of what is available:
2014 - E15SS - This was the last of the custom run LG2/B25 inspired models for LA Guitars. This was the one I received from LA Guitar as a replacement due to the pickguard removal catastrophe. It is basically my couch guitar. It is in the same condition as when I purchased it. There are some very light surface scratches due to it hanging around LA Guitars for 6 years. I did a quick set up but it probably could use something a little more detailed. I put a Holter Pickguard, Restoration Age tuners with cream buttons and John Pearse ebony armrest on. The armrest is removable. The pickguard is not - at least not by me. No pick-up. Note the OHSC seems to be for an OM and I have added additional padding so that the guitar is snug in the case. Asking $1050
2020 - E10SSv - I wish this guitar had a thicker neck and wider nut because if it did I wouldn't even consider selling it. I have added a John Pearse ebony slimline armrest which probably is not removable and a Schatten HFN pickup. Asking $1050.
2019 E10OM-TC - Once again the JP ebony armrest (removable), upgraded Schaller GrandTune machines and an LR Baggs Anthem dual source pickup - UST and microphone. I don't believe this guitar has ever left my house and is in like new condition with the exception of some superficial scratches on the pickguard. Asking $1150.

Hi everyone, I am a professional luthier. I have an Eastman acoustic in the shop where the glue join for the scarf at the peghead has failed. It is not your standard split peghead because the failure corresponds exactly with the prepared join. It is still strongly hinged together so I cannot get in to clean up the gluing surfaces. Does anyone know what glue Eastman uses for their general construction and for this join in particular? Hide glue? Titebond? Epoxy (please, no!).

The 2021 in-person edition of the NAMM Show has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and will instead take place online. The convention had been scheduled for the week of Jan. 18, 2021, at the Anaheim Convention Center. No surprise here - can't wait to see new Eastman models!

As I shop Eastmans, I find myself wondering: is the thermal curing process doing the same thing that time would do to the top, only quicker? Or does it affect the top’s response in ways that go beyond what aging would produce? In other words, if I buy a non-TC Eastman, will it effectively turn into a TC Eastman 3 to 5 years down the line? Or will it always have a distinct tonal character from the TC?

Really noticed for the first time, after the window light struck the guitar just right, quite a bit of checking in the lacquer. Knowing that it shipped from the Netherlands, and during winter, not to surprised. At first I was a bit bummed, but then began to appreciate the patina and authenticity of the finish.

Got to say, what a guitar. I tuned it to taro patch tuning for slack key tunes.....and wow, nice clear tones. Waiting on a turteloid pick guard from Stew Mac before I begin using a pick. When I was playing her today the light coming from the window hit the guitar top just right.....and what I saw was quite a bit of checking in the lacquer. At first I was bummed, then I thought......that’s just the guitars patina. Kind of like the authenticity of the finish. Anyway, lovely instrument.

I have a couple of Eastman OM's (E10OM-TC and E8OM-TC) and have been considering trying 13's on them (or one of them) as they're all short scale. Was wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so how you liked it?

I got a new E8OM-TC a few weeks ago which I was really happy with apart from the action which seemed a good bit higher than the specified 3/32" (2.4mm) and 2/32" (1.6mm)at the low and high Es respectively. As far as I could measure it was at least 0.5mm higher than that. My local tech isn't taking any work at the moment so I decided to have a go myself.

After a bit of research it didn't look too difficult, just sand a bit off the bottom of the saddle and if I messed up, replacement saddles seem to be pretty easy to get hold of. To my surprise it was as easy as it looks. I sanded 1mm off to get the 0.5mm drop and the improvement in playability is remarkable, even on the low frets which surprised me as the difference must be tiny at the nut. I love my E8OM-TC even more now!
