Hey guys,

Just thought I'd give a brief updatus on my guitar journey.  After going through a few Eastmans I've settled into and am very happy with my E20OM-TC and E10OM-SB.  Each of them so uniquely different from the other and the more I've played them the more I'm liking them. Unintentionally I've been playing each for about a week at a time which has allowed me to get to know what each has to offer and how my playing impacts each of them. I've found that a light touch on the E20 gives me a really sweet tone that I'm loving.  The E10 has been more comfortable to me in some way that I can't really explain but I think it will, in the long run, be my daily go to practice and play guitar. Thats not taking anything away from the the E20.  Anyway, it's nice to just settle in and focus on playing and learning vs buying and selling and I appreciate all the advice and support you guys gave me on the journey.

I've still got a 00018 in the back of my mind but it's further back than it was.  The estimate I got for painting the house and a few new windows didn't help.  Someday maybe, we'll see.

A few nights ago, we went out with another family to see our friend (and fellow EGF member), Max Gea, perform at a local bar.  In between sets, he asked if I’d come up on stage and play a song.  I’ve never played live in public, and even though I wasn’t surprised (he warned me that he was going to ask), I suddenly got very nervous.

I had to quickly decide what song to play, so I went with Neil Young’s “Old Man,” which is a song I’ve played a 1000 times and could sing in my sleep.  I strapped on his Eastman DT30D (wonderful guitar), and things started off really well… and then my mind went blank!  I got through the first verse, but couldn’t remember the chords for the chorus (did I mention that I’ve played this song 1000 times?!!), so I remembered that the show must go on and to never stop… so, I went into a bit of an improvised set of chords and back into the second verse.  I skipped the chorus a second time and finished the song.

The crowd was stomping and clapping throughout the song, which was a thrill, and my daughter gave me the biggest hug, when I left the stage.  Max was incredibly gracious, and I’m incredibly thankful for him giving me the opportunity to get on stage for the first time with his guitar.  I told him that I have so much admiration for those who perform live, and that I’ll be better prepared next time.

Yesterday, he lent me his E10SS, so I have something to play for the next few days.  We had a few drinks and a sing-along at the house (same two families), and I wish I was that prepared for the live gig the other night.  He’s playing another show tonight, and if it wasn’t storming, I’d be getting on stage and trying again.

Cheers to those of you who perform live.  It’s so much fun, but you def need to be prepared.  Also, I went with a song that I knew well, but should have picked one that was a little less tricky (fewer chords, no palm muting, etc.).  Lessons for next time!

And no - I didn't know. I just found out that Prince played one when I saw this vid.

Not sure how this happened, but I'm so glad I found it. A 186mx with a 486 body shape. It's perfect (in my estimation) The longer body shape of the 486, but hollow tone and weight, maple binding all around, small dot inlays, and oh yea, the Lollar pickups make the whole package rock.

My E20-P came with a pickguard fitted (albeit rather dull and with some faults) and my E40-00 came with no pickguard at all! 
All my other flat tops had pickguards so the E40-00 seemed the odd one out.

So, thanks to TomC and those who recommended Holter pickguards - Taylor Mullins

Hi folks, I am looking for a left handed semi-hollow electric and have narrowed it down to a few choices. Us lefties have very limited options unfortunately however at the top of my list is a T486 Goldburst but not sure Eastman would be making them in a lefty as I have seen on a site that Eastman is starting to reduce what they produce for us lefties. Anyone happen to have any info or may have seen what I am looking for? I can reach out to Eastman but thought I may check here first. I know there are a few other colors however that new Goldburst finish is breathtaking.

Due to recent events in my life im now unable to play my acoustinc during the day. This leaves me with night time to play around.
Unfortunately acoustics are lound and are not an option, so im starting to look at electrics. Went with a cheap solid body electric (its a telecaster wannabe) + practice amp with headphones output to test if im waking everyone up when playing at night.

Seems to work - the solid body tele is almost silent, allowing me to play when my family is asleep. Slowly starting to get the hang of electrics. Playing some blues. Now i want something a bit better then a 100EUR guitar-shaped object. Ideally a Les Paul type. Wanted to save some money and ordered an Epiphone Les Paul (2020 model, Classic). Well...that turned out quite awfull - the thing arrived unplayable (cracked fretboard in 3 places, a piece of fretboard chipped off,sharp fret ends) and various finish issues. Honestly did not expect that on a 500EUR guitar. It seems that i need to go deeper. Topped up my budget to 1100EUR.

So my goal now is probably Gibson Les Paul Tribute - seems to be a great entry level USA-made single cut. Unfortunately Eastman solid body guitars like SB59 are out of my league. But then i've discovered the world of semi-hollow guitars and really like what i saw there. Eastman's T386 is exactly where i need it to be (sitting in those 1000-1200EUR range). So im starting to consider the T386 - do like the clean plugged in sound of semi-hollow body guitars more then solid body. Seems to be a great fit for me. Plus the gorgeous wide nut on the Eastman makes my sausage-fingers cry of joy.

The only thing stopping me from getting the T386  - how much louder then solid bodies are these guitars when uplugged?  Im afraid that i will not be able to play at nights if this thing gets too loud. For now im playing with my fingers, this makes playing a solid-body pretty much silent.
