You are all the worst influence, and I'm checking Dave's Guitar Shop WAY too often now.  After seeing Funky Chicken's (THANK YOU FOR POSTING!) order I checked their site once again and saw the E10OO-M that I've been trying to find since my E10OO purchase last August.  I've never ordered from them before, but they had a label created in about 10 minutes, shipped later that day, and a guitar in Memphis 3 days later.

I would love to know the history on this guitar.  I'm guessing it wasn't simply a used trade-in since they had a second one of these popping up later that same day.  This looks like the case has been sitting in a warehouse for a while.
 
As described, it has beautiful flamed mahogany (probably Khaya) top, back, and sides. 




It has a SLIM 1 3/4 inch neck!  This was my one complaint about the standard E10OO.  After playing the standard E10OO for a while, I did get used to it, but it’s still a bit slower than playing my Eastman OM’s.  This neck feels almost exactly like my circa 2016 E6OM.  It also doesn’t have the usual E series volute which does not matter to me at all.
 

I think the most interesting thing about this guitar though is that the body is about ½ an inch wider than a standard E10OO.  It also has the through bridge from the E10OOSS series instead of the E10OO pyramid bridge.  Here it is next to my E10OO.  I think Eastman took their E10OOSS body and put a 12-fret 1 ¾” neck on it. 



I've played several E10OOSS over the past few years, and though they're ok, they've never been something that needed to come home with me.  They've always come across as a bit boxy to me (going for that old Gibson tone), but THIS guitar with the 12-fret neck and modified bridge placement keeps a bit of that bluesy tone, and gets rid of the residual boxiness (maybe the top-wood has something to do with that as well).  It's been working well for finger-picking, flat-picking, and strumming without breaking up too early.


I’m not sure how I would describe this guitar to sell it, but that will never happen.  I’m heading out of town soon and this is the one going with me.  If my kids don’t want them this has immediately replaced my GS-Mini-mahogany and Alvarez Blues 51 as a travel guitar.  It’s small, super playable, gorgeous, and sounds amazing.  I HAD been planning a trip to Elderly Instruments in a week or so to see if they had anything better than my current instruments, but now I don’t know if I’ll even bother (actually that's ridiculous, of course I'm still going).

Does anyone have experience using desiccant to control high room humidity in their guitar case?

We live in a northern climate (Northern PA).  My house does not have central ac.  My studio is in the finished basement.  There are two glass block windows that do not lend themselves to window air conditioners.  I always keep my two Eastman guitars in their cases when not playing them.  In the winter I used sound-hole humidifiers in the cases.

I do have a room dehumidifier in the studio, but sometimes we turn on the whole house fan, which just spreads the dehumidified air throughout the house.  Also, the dehumidifier sometimes can't keep humidity below 60%.  So far this summer, I have seen humidity readings in the studio as high as 72%, but most of the time (so far), it has been in the high 50%s/low 60%s.  I expect it will go higher as the summer progresses.

To cope, I decided to try putting desiccant in the cases.  I bought some silica gel desiccant. Just guessing, I put 6 of the 5 G pouches in each case (30g total/case).  I put 2 of the 6 pouches in the each sound-hole humidifier (which normally holds a sponge).  Each case has a hygrometer.  It has only been a few days, but the case humidities seem to be staying where they were when I started this at 50% & 55% (The one case reads a little lower because I had been traveling with it).  I realize that eventually the pouches will become saturated, and they will need to be baked out.

Am I on the right track here?  Anyone have experience with this?

I think I prefer mahogany and I haven’t been playing this one. It has been Plekked, Schatten installed and upgraded Gotoh tuners. Here is a link to the AGF listing with pics. I would be a little more flexible for EGF members on pricing.

I've mentioned that I hate changing strings.  Well, Uncle Jessie turned me on to the Taylor method of stringing and it changed my life!  Took me one third the time.  I created one of those power winders with a cordless screw driver and a "custom" fitting adapter to go on the tuning peg.  No figuring out whether I go clockwise or counter clockwise and no winder slipping off the peg.  Anyway, I'm a happier stringer.

Put some GHS Vintage Bronze on the E10OM.  I think that's what I've read here as a worthy alternative to the stock strings. I was really aiming to make a diffference on the e and b strings in the first few frets where it was pretty bright when fretting a chord on those strings.  We'll see when the strings settle in.  I liked those strings on the E6.  If they don't work I've got some DR's.

Sounds great even being played with a pick, and the sheer beauty of it makes my mouth water. The tortoiseshell binding just sets it off perfectly. It would complement my Rosewood/Red SpruceAddy E20P nicely too, but I absoloootly do not need another guitar ...

This Eastman thing seems to have taken control of my mind and my wallet . . .

Saw the double tops on E's website and was/am thoroughly intrigued. Having just sold a couple of guitars, I decided to explore the merits of the double top technology first hand.

I'm just awed by the tonal presence of the E10OM-TC; more than a little curious how RW + DT will sound.

Just bought a new-to-me e10ss last month. It’s just an amazing guitar. It was built in 2014, but I was wondering if the wood has already opened up or if I could expect more (welcome) changes. Either way, I’m very happy with this guitar!

I've started thinking about what my next purchase might be and have been looking and listening to Martins especially the 00018 and 00028.  One of my guitars would have to go ( all things point to one in particular) and I'd have to save some money but I've really thought that I'd like to take a step up.  I'm not sure it's a step up of course which is why I'm posting.

Any of you have experience with these guitars?  What are your thoughts. I suppose ever if your experience wasn't with one of the ones I mention I'd still like to hear your thoughts.  

Boutique guitars are way out of my league but something about these has me thinking!
