How should I describe my AC422CE?
Posted by: phydaux - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

I have a monthly acoustic barn jam that I go to.  A lot of country, blues, and classic rock & roll.  Tomorrow will be the first jam I go to since I bought my AC422CE.

I've let everyone know that I'm bringing my new guitar, and I said I plan on showing up a little early so that people who want to give it a try can have a go.

I asked around at the jam before I bought my Eastman, as I hadn't really heard a lot about the brand back then.  None of the regulars had ever heard of them, either.

So I'm wondering, what's the best was to describe an Eastman Grand Auditorium AC433CE?

Sitka & rosewood, naturally.  I'm thinking to describe the tone I might day "Mid way between a Martin and a Taylor."

Do you think that would give someone a decent idea of the tone of an AC422CE?

  Dumb Question from a Limey
Posted by: Silly Moustache - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (2)

Hi, not sure this is the right place -so mods shove me into a corner if I've been bad.

DQ1. I have three Eastmans now ncl. two recent flat top purchases.
E20-P serial no. 1685624 (bought new in 2019)
E40-00 serial M2011683 (???) bought new in 2020.  "M" ???

Anybody know how to date these ?

DQ2 - I've seen references to "Pomona" Cal -which I'm guessing is a distribution centre for the USA ....OR?? for USA and te rest of the world?

Do they have a distribution centre/stock centre/ offices whatever in Europe ??

I'm sure I saw a job advert for a regional sales Mgr atone time which I referred to a frind who been in the rtade. but tat was some time ago.

DQ3. I have a Collings cap, a Santa Cruz cap, but i don' got no Eastman cap.

I'd really like one - are there such things?? If I can't get one in Europe or whatever, I'd be hay to pay all costs if someone could get one for me.  As we say in merrie olde Englande -    "tata for now!"

What size wrench for truss rod nut on AR372?
Posted by: seafoamgreenery - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

I just got an AR372CE and discovered that the truss rod ends in a nut. This is a new one for me — I'm used the sort you adjust using an allen wrench.

What's the size wrench I need to adjust? Seems like 7mm or 8mm are common, though StewMac sells 1/4", 9/32", and 5/16".

Any other tips for adjusting this sort of truss rod would be appreciated — thanks.

Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Bolt-on Necks?
Posted by: L-Man - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

I have two very recent Eastman grand auditorium acoustic guitars here, of the same model, nearly consecutive numbers (2 numbers apart), the earlier one with a traditional dovetail neck and the other with a bolt-on neck.

Is this a change that will be made to all Eastman production guitars? Is it a carry-over from the Bourgois guitars? If anyone has information I would be curious to know!

The bolt-on neck seems heavier at the joint (not surprising). I have no particular preference, each side has its proponents.

  Eastman AC622CE NGD!
Posted by: L-Man - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (34)

After several significant delays, I have finally taken ownership of a brand new Eastman AC622CE, with the Alpine spruce top, flamed maple back, sides and neck, and maple leaf inlays. Oh, and an armrest bevel, and sound port.

It is extremely beautiful, probably the prettiest guitar I have. My E40OM is also a beauty, but the 622 is more original, and looks less like an "Elvis" guitar.

Preliminary opinion of the tone is, perfect. I was fearing a lack of bass and a brittle treble with this wood combination, but the trebles, while bright, are round, and the bass is big and resonant, though it lacks the growl or rumble of rosewood. But, I'm fine with that - I have several rosewood guitars.

I will post some detailed pictures soon.

  Question For Eastman

I wonder if Eastman has thought about making some D series guitars with torrified tops AND sunburst finishes ......I would look real hard at an E20D-TC-SB - just sayin'........
