Hi all,

Hoping to pick up either one of those 5 guitars. There are some obvious price differences and I have seen some confusing comparisons elsewhere too which is delaying my decision. I don't have a local dealer so i cannot get out to try them either. 

One example of an interesting comparison is that the E10 is basically comparable to the Martin D-18 and better...another video compares the E8D to the HD28...That to me seems like it is almost too good to be true considering the 8 is at the lower end of the price spectrum, that said it sounds and looks fantastic. In that regard it seems it is not a case of having to spend more with Eastman to get a great guitar and I love that aspect.

I've owned Martins (and Blueridge's which are also excellent) so I am not debating what is ultimately better, but to my ears, the sweetest sounding (I know this is subjective) is theE20SS and seems to encompass the best of both worlds from that of a full size dread E20D and a 000. Is this fair to say?

I am leaning toward the E20SS, (and maybe it is a bit lighter?) are there any owners here who felt the same way - or any who disagree? I pick and strum if that helps.

My preference is for orchestra models in the Traditional series.

I have auditioned E6OM-TC, E10OM, E10OM-TC and E20OM.

I have auditioned more than one of each of these models in different shops.
For each model I have auditioned one guitar that was great - but found the other examples of each model to be only "ok".

I totally understand that different pieces of wood will have different properties - but was surprised at the degree of sound quality differences between different instruments of the same model.
(I am taking into account the different acoustic spaces I auditioned these guitars in).

Happy to hear recommendations of other members regarding the models I have auditioned.

Hey guys first posts, figured this would be the place to ask. Just picked up this sweet guitar used at a decent price from a local big box store. I got it set up and playing great but only after I did a really good fret level.

Had to take a fair bit off the first 6 frets but only on the low E side. Was kind of odd. Then I sited down the neck and noticed a twist. Maybe it’s only the headstock but the fret level suggests the fretboard also has a twist.

It’s got cracks up the fretboard and a dry streak. I really don’t think this is normal. It plays phenomenal now after the fret level but it’s fairly new(2022) so I just don’t want it to get worse. This thing will be a keeper but I’m kind of worried.

Hi all

New to the forum and Eastman guitars.  I have been looking for a good guitar for taking out and about and not being worried too much about abuse, dings etc.  I came upon the Eastman brand and initially was interested by the E10-OM-TC and was searching more about the brand and came upon the E2OM.  For under 600 bucks this guitar seems to be exactly what I am looking for and a great value.  I really like cedar and think it would be great for a campfire, take to the beach, vacation etc guitar.

Any owners care to chime in on how they like their E2om?  Does it handle strumming well, I'm not Pete Townshend, so not too heavy handed.  How about fingerpicking?

Are the newer Eastmans setup pretty good from the factory or is it still a case of having to go to the local tech?  Is the fret work decent? My main concern would be if the nut slots aren't too high and I can play first fret barre chords like Fm and A#m7 clearly without any of the strings being muffled, As well as not having notes get choked up by high frets.

Judging by the specs and all of the online demos it seems to be an out of this world guitar for the money, so please let me know what your opinions and experiences are.

I'm going to buy either the E1D or E2D. The only guitar I own is my E8OM-TC, so I'm in need of a good dread. My playing style is mainly fingerstyle, light strumming, percussive fingerstyle, and jazz chord progressions. However, I really want to learn how to flatpick and play bluegrass. I feel like the E2D would better suit my current playing style, but maybe the E1D would be better suited once I start to flatpick more?

Anyhow, just hoping a few of you E1D-E2D owners could chime in on your thoughts of both guitars. How they compare and contrast, tonal characteristics, etc.

I've heard the E1D will be louder and have more bite with the Spruce top, whereas the E2D may have a darker tone? I really want that nice low end growl that accompanies most dreads, and so I'm wondering if that's diminished on the cedar top vs spruce top?

I own an Eastman E10D-TC and it's one of my favorite guitars so I know Eastman knows how to work with mahogany. I am seriously considering an Eastman AC522CE but have one concern. I owned a Taylor 516CE for about eight years and just never bonded with it. Because my wife bought it for my 60th birthday I kept at it but it just wasn't happening. My concern is the Eastman AC522CE and Taylor 516CE are similar body shapes and both are mahogany back and sides. Has anyone had experience with both guitars in order to make a valid comparison?

Years ago I was listening to the Benny Goodman Orchestra and he had a guitarist that amazed me. I went to searching and discovered his name was Cal Collings from Cincinnati , he was born into a bluegrass family and started playing fiddle but soon moved to guitar and a different direction. Here's Cal's entire album Cross Country playing solo. Once again my musical preferences aren't much appreciated by many lol

Hello all my brothers and sisters of Eastman! 

I've been playing these fabulous guitars and mandolins for over 10 years now and just found this forum. Just wanted to introduce myself and rave with some like minded folks.

I discovered these great instruments around 2010 and it wasnt long until I got in touch with Mark in Pomona (who is an awesome guy!) who offered for me to stop by and pick one up being as I lived in So cal as well. My first trip down there I was met with a very friendly vibe and he brought out the most beautiful completely figured bear clawed top E10D that went home with me. It wasnt long before I was back down there to purchase another to compliment it, an E8D. Unfortunately I ended up selling (dont ask me why) the E10D a few years later and ended up with the biggest case of sellers remorse still to this day. I still have the E8D which has matured wonderfully and also added a MD315 Mandolin I couldn't pass up in 2012 purchased from Dennis at the Mandolin Store.

While prices have increased quite a bit since then, these instruments still are by far the best bang for the buck in the music industry IMO.

I honestly have no excuse for finding this page only now. I'm a devoted Eastman owner. I guess I should say I like and own Martin's, too, but I play my Eastman's the majority of the time. I've gigged my Eastman's for several years and been able to correct a few hundred people who have wanted to see my "Martin". I just received the 40OM-TC and am under the spell. Unreal, the sound.

How did you discover Eastman?
It was thru the AGF around '09 maybe. The rave reviews were coming and and I found an AC422 online and bought it. I was sold for life. Since the 422 an E6D, E2OM and an E20D-TC have stayed for awhile and moved on. Currently an E40D and E40OM-TC have come to stay. The 6D and 20D-TC were exceptional guitars but the 40's are just a different ballgame. The 20D-TC must get honorable. A friend called it an HD28 on steroids and I do agree.

Favorites related to Eastman - favorite models & wood combos, and which model is next on your purchase list?

I like several wood combos. I am a D18 fan as well as the rosewood. I appreciate each for what they contribute to my ears. I do have more Rosewood guitars. If I were to be looking right now, a Touchstone D or a Sunburst 40D would be in my sights.

Music interests & anything else?

I used to golf A LOT. Use to Motorcycle A LOT. Now I pretty much only play guitar and gig quite a bit.

Hi guys, as described in the Reverb post, I am selling my good-as-new (c. 5 hours of playtime) SB59/V again. It is an amazing guitar, but I noticed how I keep gravitating to my SB59 and also my Tokai LS1 R9, and it feels unreasonable to keep all three if someone else can show it more love than I can. So instead of giving it more hours of playtime, I am willing to listen to my gut feeling and sell it now in its basically untouched state.
