Hello Folks - In a couple of previous posts I documented the sad tale of my trying unsuccessfully for almost a year to get an E20D -TC. My lovely wife, being the goodhearted soul that she is sensed my frustration and disappointment (and also blessed with an abundance of common sense) finally said "quit whining about that damn guitar and order a different one !!". Who among us would waste such a glorious opportunity ?? I immediately contacted A Plus Guitars and reworked the existing deal to cancel the 20 and substitute a natural topped E40D - it arrived about a month ago. There has been a lot written on this (and other) sites about the 40 series Eastmans and I can now add my 2 cents worth of opinions - they are the REAL DEAL !!!! It is difficult to effectively describe subjective qualities like playability and sound but like the old saying goes "you'll know it when you see it" - so true, so true !! Over the years I have had the chance to play quite a few acoustic guitars of varying quality and I would put this axe up against any one of them, regardless of price. The only thing that I have to overcome is my reluctance to take it out of the house - it is so beautiful that I really am afraid to take it to some of the "establishments" where I gig with Bluegrassers and over-the-hill Hippies - I'll get over that sooner or later - I'm blessed to have a fine E10D - SB which does a great job. Also, in closing - a tip-of-the-hat to George at A Plus Guitars - great guy to deal with!

Both sound really good... I think the E2 might be added to my wish list for fingerstyle.

I am still in the market for an E10D-TC and search reverb frequently. I also look for the other versions. Surprisinly this popped up today but is shown as listed 19 days ago. I think the price is a little heavy, just my opinion. The usual caveats apply.

Hi all, I’m currently looking for some ebony replacement bridge pins for my 2017 E10D-TC. For some reason when I purchased this guitar almost a year ago I felt like it would benefit from bone pins as they seem to add some brightness and clarity. For most string sets this is a helpful addition. But I have found with 80/20 bronze this adds to much top end zing to the tone. I can’t remember what I have done with the original bridge pins and I am wondering where I can get a good replacement set that will fit this guitar. Will Martin Style from StewMac do that trick? Thanks in advance.

My wife and I returned from our local music store today and I was talking about Eastman and how they have been killing it with their 2018 lineup and how great value their guitars are. Out of nowhere the wife said “you know, you should really buy another Eastman before the price goes up.” I tried with every fiber within me to play it cool and act like I didn’t want one. But in reality i’ve wanted another one the day I bought my last one. So not only did I marry the best woman ever, but now i’m on the hunt for a new guitar! Which model would you buy? (I already have an Eastman E10D-TC)

So I tried the Santa Cruz Medium Tension on my E8D. I put them on about 3 months ago. It really brought out the guitar and they seemed very good, but the $18/set was a little high, IMHO. It was time for a change and I wanted to try something different. I went with d'Addario EJ16s light (12-53). For some reason everything sounds muddled. There is a lot of overtones and the strings seem to be competing with each other. I honestly don't know a better way to describe it. Is this something that will play itself out as it settles down? Or? I believe Eastman recommends EXP16s and I think (?) the only difference is the EXPs are coated. Comments would be greatly appreciated.

PS - Side note - I learned a lesson about paying attention when changing out the strings. I had a couple friends over for dinner and cruise on the lake. Afterwards we were standing around talking as I explained the Eastman guitar and what I was doing. (inspection, clean, new strings etc) I inadvertently inserted the "D" string in the "G" spot and then tried to tune it. I now know you can snap a heavy wound string. Fortunately that is all the happened.

My first post here.
Today I bought an Eastman AC DR 1 as a step to upgrade from my beginner guitar which is a Fender CD60.
I'm very much a beginner guitar player, having spent a year learning notes and working through Alfred's Basic Guitar method and Hal Leonard, plus a few other beginner guitar books. After a year I got fed up with the pick and went back and started over this time using my fingers.
Now I can easily play beginner stuff, and I'm fairly happy with the basic beginner chords...
I want to move towards a finger picking /pseudo classical folksy style of playing. I can't sing, so I really want the guitar to do the singing.
I love the deep bass tones and big sound of the fender CD60, and having talked with my local guitar store, I was recommended the Eastman AC DR1.
Now. I've been playing it all evening, then switching back to the Fender (cost 200€) then to the Eastman, (600€), and I'm struggling to get the Eastman to sound as good as the fender. True, I've been playing the fender for two years, and the Eastman for three hours, lol, but.... What am I not doing right? It sounds jangly, light, weak, and the bass notes sound like wet elastic. Then I try my fender again and the sound is clean and the bass notes resonate.
I know it's me, not the guitar, so I'm looking for advice.
The strings are different, is this the issue? The fender strings are fairly thick. The Eastman strings are phosphore bronze, feel lighter, it's this why the sound is thinner?
The Eastman body is roughly the same size as the fender but the sound hole is smaller, and the guitar feels much lighter.
I want to make my new guitar sing. I want to find it's voice. I listened to this guitar played on YouTube and it sounded rich. When I play it sounds metallic jangly and light, and add I said the bass sounds like wet elastic.
Be kind to a beginner, any advice please on what this guitar wants in terms of how I should play it, and any comments welcome from those of you who know this guitar better than I do.
