My Favorite Guitar...It Might Surprise You!
Posted by: jphenderson91 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

Let me begin by saying I have had a lot of great acoustic guitars over the years. I currently own a superb 2009 J-45 and a fantastic 2019 D-18 standard. I have also had a few amazing Eastman acoustics as well.

However, there has been one guitar that has been quickly rising to the top and becoming my all time favorite acoustic. That is my 2021 E8D-TC Alpine that I purchased in Jan 2022.

In my initial review of the guitar I gave it a 96/100. That is obviously a near perfect score, and I don't think I have ever had a guitar that has scored that high out of the box. (My 2013 D28 standard was that good but it developed neck issues down the road)
I've got to say that six weeks later the E8D-TC Alpine has continued to exceed my expectations. Out of the box it is the most dynamic acoustic I have ever owned.

I am really at a loss of words to describe how much I love this guitar. If it tells you anything I sold my E20D-TC a couple weeks after I got the Alpine. The Alpine was just as loud but much more open and more woody right from the get go.

The tone is warm but clear, loud but responsive. It has authority to the sound along with subtle sweetness. The craftsmanship is top notch and the tonewoods are first class. Not a flaw with the guitar craftsmanship wise. If this instrument cost as much as a new Martin HD28 ($3200+) I would still believe I was getting a deal.

All in all, it's easily the best Eastman I have owned. Even better than my 2017 E10D-TC and I am a mahogany guy. It is quickly becoming my absolutely favorite guitar. It's a true gem.

Anyway, soon I will be adding an LR Baggs Anthem to it so I can use it live. This guitar deserves to be heard.

So, with all of that said I am curious, what's your all time favorite acoustic guitar?

  Bridge Pins Very Loose
Posted by: TerryD - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

The bridge pins in both of my new Eastmans are too small.  Is it a case of Eastman's bridge pin holes being larger than average or are the pins they supply smaller than average?  They do look like ebony however, contrary to the specs on their site saying they are plastic.

  Torrified tops difference

Does anyone have experience with the same basic guitar from Eastman with and without torrified tops.  Is there a great difference sound between two?

  icon on this platform?
Posted by: noah - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

semi-embarassing question:   (shrug emoji)

this platform's unfamiliar to me, and it's been kind of hit and miss when i try to post or respond to other posters.

1) what's the platform called, and where might i find a primer on how to use it more effectively?
2) for starters, where might find what these icons mean? ( see attached image)

i've likely missed something obvious, so thanks for your  patience.

cheers all,
n

  E8D-TC Alpine like new $1100
Posted by: TomC - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (11)

So I had an E20D-SB (received that in trade for an E6D-TC Alpine) and then stumbled on to this E8D-TC Alpine in like new condition. THEN Eastman goes and announces E20D-MR-TC (OMs as well) - torrefied Adirondack and Madagascar rosewood B&S. Trying to maintain somewhat of my self imposed hobby limit, something(s) need to go to fund the E20D-MR-TC. The E20D has found a tickled pink new owner. This one is up next. It is a September '21 build. Very pale appearance for a thermocured top. Nice set of rosewood for the back. The condition is like new with the exceptions of some light scratches on the guard. No modifications to stock with the exception of a strap button on the heel - original guard, tuners and no pick-up. Includes the OHSC. Asking $1100 - includes PP feels and the first $75 of any shipping expense. Let me know if you have any questions.

Rainbow NGD : E8-OM !
Posted by: Dadra - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (27)

Hello from France,
My new E8-OM was alone in the store and called me ! "Buy me, buy me !"
I had already two children Eastman at home (a bright PCH1-D and PCH1-OM - my favorite) but this massive E8 was so pretty on his stand. I shed a tear (for 1299€) and came back the home with a small sister...

Some pictures first and my sound impression later  Rolleyes !

  Touchstone-Eastman?
Posted by: REHII - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (14)

I see on eBay and reverb a dealer has a guitar listed as an Eastman- Bourgeois “touchstone” guitar for sale. It used and they say it is the very first prototype to have the top voiced by Dana.
It says Eastman on the headstock.
I thought the were going to say “ Touchstone”, and a dealer has told me they will say “bourgeois ” in a different script from the USA guitars.
Any way I can’t find a search feature on this forum to see what anyone else may have said about the coming guitars from this long awaited collaboration
I really don’t see what could be done to make the Eastman guitars I have seen lately any better! (Well lower the price)
Robert.

I may just be internet illiterate, but is there a search feature here?
I want to search “touchstone”

  E20SS/V
Posted by: REHII - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

I was at the Eastman dealer in Memphis.
They have gotten even more Eastman guitars in. They have 35 on display in the glass cases, plus lots of PCH models. Also Electric guitars.
And I was told they have many in the back stock room. I bet they have almost 75 Eastman guitars! That’s more than just about any other brand in their store, well except PRS electrics, they have a lot of them also!
Well I tried out a few and the one that really is getting to me is the new model E20SS/v.
it really sounds great! And it looks really different from any other Eastman models with its kinda diamond inlays.
I am going back today to play it a little more. I hope I can resist as I have way to many guitars.
And I have been wanting a Gibson advanced Jumbo with a red spruce top, and there are a couple now on reverb for less than $2500.
The price on the E20SS/V is $1899 I think, so it’s just a little more for an AJ.
I wish maybe Eastman could make a king scale round shoulder dread!?!?
Robert.

New to Eastman, New to Forum
Posted by: Organicmccall - Forum: Introductions and EGF Annoucements - Replies (12)

Hello folks.
Sure there are lots of Therese types of testimonials on here…but I had to share my Eastman journey to date.
I have a Martin HD-28 and a D-18 special Adi VTS, Blueridge 143, a cheapo Guild Jumbo…and have had several Taylor guitars…I also came across and Eastman Mandolin a while back which is what hot me first interested in Eastmans.

I started reading and and decided I wanted one..in particular a Sloped Shoulder. I tried out a E10ss locally and it didn’t sound bad, but was a bit rebuy for me. So didn’t pull the trigger. Then I decided to try out a regular dreadnought. Long story short, the order got mixed up and I ended up getting an e6-tc in the mail. Was going to send it back (because of obvious redundancy with my D-18)….but I started playing it…holy crap!!! I was absolutely blown away. I couldn’t send it back. I am still trying to process it…but I think I like it better than the Martin…possibly even substantially!!!

I am now in official Eastmania mode and have already ordered the E20ss (hoping the rosewood mellows it out) and will definitely be buying more of their guitars (yes, I have a problem ?). If I can find one, AC630 will happen. Also the E20ooss is on my radar…plus…have heard great things about the e8….like I said..a problem!!! ??

Anyway, just had to share. Look forward to learning from this forum.
