Smooth nut slots & round saddle top prevent pingy sounds we all know....

Note:  the string 'tie-off' can be a major source of ramp chewing in much used guitars.

Couple weeks ago on one of my older guitars I found the source of pinging to be a rough bridge ramp from the ball end of the string to the saddle.... can happen on any guitar at any time.  My new E20OM-TC came with a tiny pingy on the unwound B/E, 2 minute fix.  Ping can be there on the wound strings but not so noticeable.
  
Strings don't like to touch anything sharp or rough... smooth stops pinging is a fact.  Use the toothpick to feel the ramp for any rough spots.  Gently use the small round hobby file (Harbor Freight in my case) to smooth the rough spots from the bridge plate through the ramp and out to the sadddle.  Feel again with the toothpick.  

Hi everyone I am a new member as of today! I’ve been hanging out over at the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum but now I am also here! 

Earlier this week I went into Sunrise Guitars in Fayetteville AR, hoping to buy a Martin style Mahagony dread. I had seen a used D18GE in there awhile back and was very interested. They didn’t have the GE because it sold awhile back. I looked at the new 2017 D-28, a D-18 standard and a bunch of custom Martins. They were all good but I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend 3K+

In another room they had a large selection of all solid wood Eastman guitars. I’ve owned an entry level eastman in the past and it was a good guitar so I decided to give them a play. WOW! I was blown away. The store manager told me that their Thermo-cured series (New for fall 2017) is an all solid wood guitar, nitro finish with a torrefied Adi top! They looked amazing and sounded just as good as any Martin Standard series I’ve played. The Rosewood E20D-TC would easily give my D-28 Standard a good run for it’s money. 

After spending a couple hours there I narrowed it down to the Rosewood and the Mahagony new thermo cured version. The Rosewood had a dark beautiful sound. It was one of the best looking dreads I’ve ever played. The back had one of the most beautiful pieces of EIR and If you couldn’t see the name you would guess it cost north of 3K. The Mahagony version was also beautiful and had some of the deepest bass and punchy highs I’ve played on any guitar. The Mahagony neck felt amazing and had an amazing ebony fretboard. It also had an Ebony head plate which is a cool edition on a guitar of this price. The neck was the largest of the two but was very comfortable. Needless to say I went ahead and bought the Mahagony E10D-TC! 


I ended up paying about half of the price of a new D-18 which is a steal if you ask me. 

I also had an L.R Baggs Anthem installed this week. It’s going to be my main gigging guitar. I don’t have any pics yet but I should get some later this week. 

If you get a chance to play these Thermo Cured Eastman’s I think you’ll be very impressed. The store owner said it was his favorite guitar in the store.  (Was because it’s mine now)

Neil gave a solo acoustic performance from his hometown of Omemee, Ontario.  He streamed it on Facebook, so you can watch it there.  He's my all-time favorite musician, and at 72yo, he's still sounding and playing well.  I was pleased that he broke out his D-45 for several songs and shared the story of his bullet hole HD-28. Musically, he played everything from guitar to piano to 6-string banjo to ukulele, and he had a couple of surprises --- like performing "There's A World" for the first time since 1971.  Here's the setlist.  Check it out!

Well - I'm excited to share that I purchased an Eastman E6-OM.  Should be arriving on Monday, at which point I will get some pictures up, along with a review.  This is the first 'traditional' E series Eastman that I have owned, so very much looking forward to this one!

Just curious if any members of this forum have any experience or thoughts about Recording King guitars?

I was at Guitar Center this weekend and had my first opportunity to try one out (RO-10 model).  I have to say, it was a pretty interesting guitar for the price!  They aren't in the same league as Eastman from my impression, but certainly better than the Yamahas and other guitars that Guitar Center had on the wall.

I have been working on dialing in my new 2006 810ce archtop.....finding it really tricky to get things just right. I have a couple of D’Angelico archtops that are much easier to play, but acoustically, the Eastman is so much better. Any advice as to what to look for when setting up the 810 ? I love the look and feel of the neck and body ( dark violin type finish ), but dialing her in seems to be pretty tricky.

New to this site. I own two Eastmans at the moment, ar810 archtop and a d20 dreadnaught. Both are stellar players and lookers. I have an 822ce fanned fret arriving tomorrow. I was wondering how most of you out there feel about pick guards. I tend to anchor with my pinky finger when finger picking and that tends to really wear through a guitars finish. I put a martin style d28 pickguard on the d20 and wondering if anyone out there has put a pick guard on the 822 grand auditorium. The guitar is beautiful....and I would like to protect her with a nice tortoloid type pick guard.

For anyone who is interested there is a recently posted (Nov. 10) short clip on Youtube from a lad named Ian Meadows trying out an E 20 D-TC. Other than an Eastman-produced entry from the 2017 NAMM show there haven't been any other demos of this axe that I have been able to find, mostly because they have not yet arrived in the U.S. (or so I'm told). Plug in "Eastman E 20D-TC" in the Youtube search box - I have had one on order since August and this clip has only fueled my lust to get my hands on one......

Just got this beautiful 186 from Blues Angel Music. What a great companion for my V59. These are truly exceptional instruments.
